(I'm led to understand by some of my Japanese gamer friends from my Fukuoka days that there are/were some folks playing in Tokyo, so you never know. May as well see if there are any other interested folks, right?)
This is sort of my pet 28mm scale sci-fi game - it's fast-playing and pretty well-designed, but the big selling point for me (and, I freely admit, anti-selling point for a lot of folks) is that it's pre-painted. I found when I was playing 40K that I'd get, say, half to two-thirds of an army painted up before I suddenly found that I couldn't look another Space Marine in the eyes again, and settled down to play all my games with a half-painted army. A personal failing - for some reason, I can chug away on 6mm minis all day long, but I get burned out on 28mm quickly - but there you go. With pre-paints (and they're really painted quite well) I always have a fully-painted army, plus they're super durable so I can just toss a squad in a ziploc bag, chuck the whole lot in a toolbox and call it a day - cheaper and more space-efficient than Sabol or GW cases. And they're eminently repaintable if you want to go that route.
Also, of course, there's the background. There are two kinds of people in the world, I think: people who think the idea of cigar-smoking uplifted Zen gorillas in power armor is kind of stupid, and right-thinking people.

At any rate, my usual end-note: if there are any folks in the Nagoya area who want a demo, let me know! I have a bunch of points of 4 different armies ready to go, and given some advanced warning I can tote some stuff up to Kids Land for a game.
Oh, yeah! Plus all the rules and army books are free.
