Today I looked at a hedge that reminded me of where I use to spray Prussians undercoat chaos black. Good times

I love sumo.
And yeah the last Spider man with Toby McGuire rather sucked. I personally think a lot of movies would benefit from editing out half of what happens.
And as for my activities, however uninteresting, I watched Interstellar. I highly caution people to watch 2001 first. If you liked Kubrik's film this is up your alley. It is Sci-Fi in capitals.

@Ash, I remember that video where you trekked into the woods to spray things in a rural setting, quite relaxing.
Luckily I am permitted to spray on our balcony. My wife hasn't yet noticed the vague red, pink and brown lines that weren't there when we moved in, and indicate where the newspaper ended. Maybe there will be a reckoning when we eventually clean up the place and move out..speaking of spraying, got a little more Dredd terrain done last night.
An old friend from university who I often see when I get back to England emailed. He's not a gamer, and we invariably wax nostalgic about retro telly. He included this musing in his mail today. I am sure he wouldn't mind if I quoted it for your pleasure:-
"Currently watching series 2 of Highway to Heaven. Made it through all of series 1. I have literally given hours of my life to schmaltzy angelic tv and once you start, you have to perservere. Landon was many things. A flawed man by some accounts. But his homespun christianity is something I like being in the presence of. I dont know many people who like watching Highway to Heaven, are Bucks Fizz and Dollar fans and have a labrador t shirt. I am lonely. But there is a flame that never goes out..."
(Pretty sure he isn't lonely, by the way..the rest, 100% true)

Re: What did you do today.
Many thanks to Primarch for coming all the way down to Tsu today. I very much enjoyed my (possibly first?*) game of 7th ed. 2000pts of my Corsairs (ably abetted by their Dark Eldar BFFs) against 2000pts of Prim's "We're darker than your eldar" Angels.
Things of note included:
Belial and his terminator chums deep striking up my backfield and generally spending the rest of the game being a pain in my fundament. I got em eventually, but it took, what...5 turns?
My Phoenix Bomber and Razorwing dogfighting Prim's Nephilim Fighter across the battlefield. My flyers turned up fairly early, and had a turn or so of air dominance. But, yon Nephilim is a nasty piece of work (twin linked lascannon, Heavy Bolters and a bunch of missiles, all with skyfire, of course), so much jinking ensued once it turned up. This was quite fun, actually. I got 'im in the end, mind you
My corsair lord shooting a drop pod point blank with a fusion pistol and having the explosion take a wound off him. The Heavy Bolter to the face in the next round didnt do him any favours, either...
My succubus taking an assault cannon to the face in turn two. Well, whacha gonna do?
Prim's dakkacannon drop pod landing smack in the middle of my everything and killing...2 scorpions and a hull point. Ouch
Prim's stealth-inducing land speeder variant. Bloody thing is impossible to kill. Doesn't do much, granted, but it's a wee annoyance and no mistake.
Prim's Land Raider Achilles being...well, a Land Raider Achilles. Fething thing has AV14 all round, and ignores melta and lance rules. And what, pray, is a Corsair/DA player supposed to do about that, hmmn? Use strong language at it?
In the end I just ignored it and hoped it went away, which, largely, it did, aside from its two twin linked multi meltas and thunderfire cannon. That kinda thing kinda grabs one's attention...
I ended up winning, but it was in no way a foregone conclusion at any point, and even at the end (of turn 6) if we had played on it would've been possible for Prim to squeak a win. All in all, a very fun game. Tip o the hat to you, ser Primarch. May your dice always roll 6's
* or did I play a game of 7th earlier in the year? I don't recall...

Re: What did you do today.
Been Busy this weekend
Bought some lego stuff only for the planets to use with BFG or the upcoming Armada.

Put some color on the Hello Kitty Missile Launcher marine, still thinking on what to do with the backpack.

And started to work on my acquired "All quiet on the Martian front" stuff

Re: What did you do today.
It had passed me by until today, but I noticed that 1987ish solo GW boardgame Chainsaw Warrior is available for 3 GBP for ipad. Bought it, and am pleasantly surprised. A lot of the original art has been retained (including some of 2000AD stalwart Brett Ewins work), including the introductory comic and card art. The expansion cards which came with White Dwarf are present too. It was always a bit flawed, being too hard by half, and requiring an age for the board to set up- but the tablet version sorts all those old irritations out. Not a perfect game by any means, but great to kill a bit of time with.

Re: What did you do today.
It has, as others have pointed out recently, been a bit quiet in here recently, so despite not actually having done much of late, I have determined to post here in the interests of, yknow, encouraging chat
So, I dunno about y'all, but the past few days I have had absolutely bugger all energy. Zip. I even went jogging today, but after 15 mins I properly had to stop and then walk home. Even by my lacklustre standards this is odd. I blame the weather, personally. It's sucking the will to live right outta me. Is anyone else feeling a bit glumphy* just now?
Anyway, I spent what I thought was 10 minutes but turned out to be an hour and a half going through my collection of "just for painting" minis.
I have way more than I thought I did. Hell, I have minis I didn't even know I had. Drunken GW dwarf in a bar with a tankard? Chaos Warpsmith? Two (two?!?) Biopsists of Dirz? Ltd. Ed. Games Day orc?
So, all this got me to thinking: what's the most interesting mini you own? It could be interesting due to rarity, age, size, or whatever. Answers on a postcard...
*I made this word up just now. It means gloomy and listless and apathetic about most everything. Not depressed, per se, just, yknow, meh.

Re: What did you do today.
Do I read Scotsman that is complaining about cold, grey, damp weather?
An Oregonian we are in our element in this type of weather. (At least we can't admit to being affected in any way.) That said, I am also feeling very glumpfy. But that might have to do with working 6-day weeks for the past month. I am so ready for a few more days off.
So, today I fought through the fugue state of my feelings and made a push on my DZC stuff. They'll be "table-worthy-ish" by Sunday I believe.
Truth be told, I've been recently wanting to paint Dreadnaught or Tank again.
@ J-R: Do I see "All Quiet on the Martian front" figures? I love them. Maybe we can get a game of them or BFG in sometime.

Re: What did you do today.
Grey skies, drizzling rain, low temperatures. The weather over the last few days just made me feel homesick!
@Job - What's the point in having bad weather if you are just going to tolerate it? Do you think the British Empire would have spanned 1/4 of the globe if we had just tolerated the weather? No!
Our carpenters built ships in the rain.
Our engineers forged cannons in temperatures just above freezing.
Our soldiers drilled relentlessly under dark grey skies.
All so that we could go out and conquer far off lands with a better climate than we had back home.
So you Oregonians shouldn't just put up with bad weather. Use it as an impetus to lead an exodus to the south and take over California.
@M_i_J - If you have too many minis in your 'to paint' pile the answer is simple. Put them in a box out of sight and forget about them. NEVER look in the box! NEVER look at the box! NEVER think about the box! until you have time to paint.
Or you could just try painting more and cutting down on other activities. You don't really need to sleep, right?

Yesterday I packed six boxes of stuff ready to move in January. I also got some more painting done on my Ashigaru. My problem now is that I need to have my gaming table cleared by the weekend as I have been told by She Who Must Be Obeyed that if I want her help selling it, it has to go this weekend. Unfortunately all my painting stuff and a pile of side projects are currently occupying my tables...

Re: What did you do today.
Too, late. California is the place everyone is trying to escape. We have been throwing invading Californians off our rain-slicked ramparts for years. Lots of them even get past Oregon and make it up Washington St. in spite of our best efforts.Primarch wrote: So you Oregonians shouldn't just put up with bad weather. ..
California is about ready to dry up and blow away. Better go weld some spikes on your car and get ready for a road warrior apocalypse.
Speaking of which. The rivet plate and instrument dials are miliput out of an oyumaru mold. Handy stuff. I couldn't make a good cast of the instruments. The originals were tucked up under the hood and I couldn't get to them. This is an old old model I got from a buddy and was already put together.
