@ Spevna: Nice collection.
@ Auxryn: I love the colorful paint scheme. It looks really good.

I came home today and found that Santa had also come to my house. I picked up the Battleground Europe and Tank Wars publications from Warlord. I also ordered a Panther plastic tank.

I got straight to assembling the tank. The plastic models by Italeria look good. Nice crisp edges. Pieces fit well and no mold lines. It also came with decals and is pretty straight forward to assemble. (I also messed around a little with the two CSM bikers, too.)

The books are nice. There's a lot more history put into the Battleground Europe, but I have to say some of the stuff looks hard to use in our BA scene. We don't really play theater specific lists nor really assemble armies based around historic stuff. Still it is all nice to reference. Tank Aces just looks fun, especially between tank armies.

And there were two free minis! Yeah! :D Stocking stuffers for myself!

Today I worked some more, took a bunch f work home, and did some more work. :(

Between about 11:30 and 12:30 I did a bit of painting. I shall post pics once I've painted enough for it to not look daft. Currently, daft is definitely a word that could be applied to it, but I live in hope that extensive shading will make it all broody and scary, and less like Ronald McDonald...

Speak for yourself. :D
I try to arrange my units along historic lines. Pikey has a force made for one of the Italian theater lists, Koji has Market Garden airborne etc.

#edit# Hmm, my post may have come across as a little more snarky than intended. Sorry.
While my last game of BA, with zombies, gorillas and Captain America may not have been the most accurate depiction of WW2 combat, I am in favour of historic lists and using themed forces. It's true that we don't all play the same selectors, but if anyone fancies it, I am more than willing (mini collection permitting) to have a crack at a game with historically accurate theatre lists.

@ Prim: Thanks for expanding your comment.

I completely agree that I may have overlooked the fact most people have been putting thought into the historicity of they lists. Actually, I can't think of anyone who has done anything uber-competitive. Everyone's list so far looks pretty good on the table. I myself try to run an LMG per squad and grenadier regiment equipment more or less. Hopefully historical themes remain the way we play BA more or less.

But, that said, my original point may have not been clear. I just meant to point out we haven't (yet) decided to play specifically games from one theater or battle. We usually have lists from MG paired against early war stuff, etc. No problem with that either, but it seems the Battlefield book partly had the idea opponents would choose forces based around a time and theater.

(P.S. Maybe in the future we should play a themed game like partisans or airborne drop. :) )

As for hobby stuff, I finished the Panther assembly. It is a very pretty model and assembled well. I recommend the Italeria stuff from Warlord.

I still need to get a sheet of 8' x 4' plywood for the tabletop, but until then, the games room is complete:

Three trips to Ikea in a week. That should do me for a while, I think. :)

8x4? That's a nice size of table.
I will need to get my new hobby room set up at the end of January, but I'm shooting for a 6x4 table myself. I could probably squeeze in something a bit longer, but it would cause a lot of problems with moving around the table as the room is a little narrow.
Still, congratulations on getting your room ready. Have fun gaming!

To be fair, agp doesn't live in the land of crowded living. Heck, I'm given to understand he has not one but two sheds

Anyhoo. I've been working on this the past couple days. Still looks worryingly clownish, but I'm hoping that once the black reaches his face that'll change and he'll look all ominous and whatnot. I'm not sold on the yellow, either. I may revisit it and add more orangeyness, or even redo the whole shebang (yellow bits) in blue. For now, I'm quite enjoying the slapdash approach to adding colour. No fancy blending for this avatar - it's fiery, rocky gollops of paint for him and he can damn well like it :)

The red is Tamiya clear red over a silver undercoat, which is why he has a shiny bum. It's not actually shiny - it's metallic looking in real life :)

*edit* also, I just noticed the humongous dragons and whatnot just perched willy-nilly on the shelves there. Couldn't do that here, that's fo sho. First minor earth wobble and you'd be picking Titan dragons of aarklash out of the carpet...
