Having an hour free this morning between getting ready for work and actually leaving the house, I painted some canvas and some seat covers on my Russian truck and jeep.

Tried my hand at painting my first camouflage recently (on a fallchirmjager), can't say I was impressed with the results....painting camo is hard! Any tips appreciated.

Otherwise I might end up with an Operation Mercury fallschirmjager paint-scheme (i.e. before they started using lots of camo! )

I picked up some camo schemes from Battlefront (the guys who do Flames of War) and Artizan Games who have some painting guides on their website. I did SS, rather than fallschirmjagers, but they should have those around as well.
As for tips, after painting up my SS, I found a coat of brown wash helped tie everything together nicely.

Quite agree. Trust in the ink dear boy, a wash of brown ink seems to the the vital ingredient. I mentioned it before here, but while doing my FSJ - prior to brown ink wash camo looks piggin' awful. After it, really not bad.

Just got back from Hobbit 3, Return of the Battle of the Hobbit. Actually, I enjoyed it. The trilogy hasn't been LOTR, but the last installment was a much more satisfying balance of solid, well acted drama and CGI nuttiness. 1st half the former, 2nd the latter. The previous movie was mostly a blur of rotund shapes jumping out of barrels and swinging on chains and that, so this was an improvement.

I watched The Hobbit: The Desecration of Tolkien on DVD yesterday as my wife wanted to see it. She said that it was far too confusing between all the different bad guys, different plot lines and so forth. She liked the dragon though. (Even though they made Smaug look like a Wyvern for some bizarre reason). It was good to see Orlando Bloom reprising his role of Letmegetcash, despite the fact that he wasn't in the book.

Today I read through a book on Austerlitz and Napoleon's campaign there. Very interesting stuff.

Finally, after an absolute age, my Raging Heroes 'Toughest Girls of the Galaxy' arrived. Luvverly stuff!
I already had quite a bit of their pre-kickstarter stuff and these 'girls' seem to be of the same great standard.
The beer coasters were a nice wee touch too.
My only complaint was the length of time I had to wait, not a biggy though as I'm in no particular hurry. I might be a bit more aggrieved if I had been basing an urgent IG project on them though.
@MiJ and Dekana: have you guys got yours yet? If so, what do you think?

Saw the Hobbit this weekend. Made me think of WFB more than anything. In particular, the uniforms of the elf spearmen looked dead-on for Warhammer.
It was an enjoyable movie if you accept it as being unrelated to the book.

Put the black wash on my Shaltari gates this morning. Next step is the patience-trying edge highlighting.

I haven't received a shipping notice yet. I think a few of the troop choices I picked aren't ready yet, so they're waiting on those.

Thanks gents, I think my base colours for the camouflage were too dark as after I washed it It just looked dirty and smudgey.
