Re: What did you do today.
Spent today's hobby time sanding resin for my super secret project. Getting a bit fed up with it, tbh
(the sanding, not the project.) still, hopefully tomorrow will bring the start of the painting stage

Re: What did you do today.
Yesterday I enjoyed a relaxed New Year's Day with the wife. We spent the Eve with my grandmother and aunt's family. We did a lot of playing with my nephew. I painted up a bloodletter and today I worked on 5 more bloodletters. I need more Scarlet Red I am using for the base color for the other 7 models. While I painted I was listening to the Rose Bowl game in L.A. My Alma mater, the University of Oregon, defeated my father's Alma mater, Florida State University. It was a tight game and I had trouble keeping my brush steady with nerves, caffeine and tension, but my university team broke out in 3rd and 4th quarter turning it into a rout.
Good morning so far. I look forward to a walk through the snow with my wife after the Hakone Ekiden is over.
@ MiJ: Ganbatte on the sanding.

Re: What did you do today.
Today papa nurgle was most generous with his gifts. I (and the missus) spent pretty much the whole day throwing up our guts thanks to some dodgy osechi ryori. Of course, both the kids were fine, and bouncing off the walls due to us being unable to take them outside (or, indeed, sit up for most of the day.) Never again shall we get shop bought osechi ryori. Worst food poisoning I've ever had. Bleurgh

Nice hobby room Prim. It's got an old school ITV Knightmare vibe about it. Very Tregaurd, perfect for the hobby. I like the brick panelling and light.
MiJ: sorry to hear you guys are ill. Let us know if you need any errands. That o sechi stuff is best handled in small doses I reckon. A lot of raw stuff.
I spent yesterday at the in laws with 5 hours of Kendama and Spinning tops!
After surviving that, luckily no New Years crap TV this year.
I met Jesse for lunch and a beer and we walked through the winter wonderland of snowy Tsu.
Now I'm going to assemble the Balrog and am awaiting Space Hulk to finish downloading on Steam. Just 750 yen or so until the end of the day folks.
Exciting.
Job good luck with the letting of bloods.

Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

That's what I thought - in a good way! I was impressed, and showed the hobby room photos to my wife, looked pitifully at her as if to say 'can I have one too?'. She chuckled as if what I had said was a joke. I don't understand..ashmie wrote:Nice hobby room Prim. It's got an old school ITV Knightmare vibe about it. Very Treguard, perfect for the hobby. Hopefully we will be house buying or hunting in a year or two, but the odds of such an oasis are zilch. Fair enough, kids need rooms..I will insist on at least some space for my toy shenanigans though.
MiJ, sorry to hear about your osechi nightmare. Food poisoning is bloody awful. Hope you and your wife are recovering.
I am still in Fukui, and already in bed. The in-laws turn in soon. Tomorrow we will attempt to return to Nagoya, but the snow is deep. Dramatic and quite beautiful as the view from the window is the shore of the local bay, which the house is right by. But travelling home might be a trial and we will quickly forget how nice it looks.
Hobby wise I read up on the War of the Roses for a potential project, and worked out what I might need to buy. The Perry stuff is marvellous. Before sleeping I'll listen to more of an audiobook of Gawain and the Green Knight, which was written in more or less the same period. A Tolkien rendering, with Terry Jones of Monty Phython (also a medieval scholar) reading. Not for once in a high pitched womans voice though.

Tregaurd is the man! How could it be anything but meant in a good way. Insanely jealous. That's what I thought - in a good way! I was impressed
Where's my Abner Brown library? (The villain from The Box of Delights).

Painted a bunch of rather small horses, and made some card movement tray thingies for Bo5A. Hopefully before classes start Tuesday I'll be able to finish up these cavalry dudes, spray some dwarves and goblins black, and get a good start on the latter.
Feel free to call me Dave!

Re: What did you do today.
Riveted the sides on this while watching the annual NHK Tone-deaf on Parade. Got the front doors and wheels on today. My Christmas present was a set of those clay/color shaper thingies. Only used them on milliput, but I think I am going to like them. Like having teeny, tiny, size0 fingers.

@konrad - yup, yon clay shapers are the beezneez. Watch out for not-dried superglue, cos if you get any of that crap on your shapers you can kiss your nice smooth edge goodbye forever. Happened to me. Twice
Watch out for milliput, too. If you don't lube your tools properly itcan bind to them, and is a bugger to get off, even from the silicon.
Also, I recognise yon bar at the back of the trukk. I believe I used the same thing on the back of badruck's mek-thingy that I made. Clearly we share a common design filosofee
