Lovejoy wrote:Nice trade, just shows how much things have changed. To be honest I don't recognise the ones on the left.. The marines, particularly the bottom right one is great, very iconic for that time. They look a bit like saggy wombles who've been out on the tiles.
The top left feller also reminds me of the chainsaw warrior minis I once had, wish I still did (If anybody has 'em, I'd take them off their hands).
Hope to arrest / execute them sometime soon, eh?
The top left is an old RT adventurer named Plunderino Pete.
The bottom left is an RT Imperial Army soldier ( before they became Imperial Guard), Trooper Dick.

@spev - noice! The marines, especially :)

@auxryn - those gates look rather spiffy. Overall I think your shaltari have turned out really well. Jobs a good un :)

Today I didn't do much, but I did find time to block out some more colours. Sword, cloak trim and pouches etc. will be pale bone (paler than this placeholder colour) and the gold bits (hair doodads, leg torc, bandolier, sword hilt) will be dark gold. I also did the shading/highlights on the bodice, but the filigree isn't showing up as much as I'd like it to, so I may rework it tomorrow if I can be arsed.

What say you all? Any improvements/suggestions?

@Spev - Well done.

This evening I did most of the work needed to finish off my curret batch of Raven Guard. A quick wash and some static grass tomorrow should see them fit for the tabletop. Inbetween colours on the Ravens, I did some more work on my semi-secret project. :D

Nothing hobbyish tonight, too bushed from work. Keeping up with Wolf Hall on TV.
Tomorrow will be the third time my wife and I (Louis in tow) look at the same house. Don't want to jinx things, but I think we can see it being our new home if we get all our ducks in a row, and they seem to be obliging in that regard.
Exciting times.

@ Auxryn: Awesome. I'm excited to play DZC sometime soon.

@ MiJ: Good work on that dreadful beauty. I second the others that white or another light color for her hair would look stunning.

@ Lovejoy: good luck on the scenery collecting.

@Primarch: does your semi-secret project involve building another house? :D

Well, I've been back in Nagoya for the past two days, but I've been just recovering from the jet lag. The trip was great, but of course bittersweet at best. We said bye to grandma and the old Miami house. We spent a lot of time down at the Key Largo cottage and I reread my cousins copy of The Sun Also Rises. Fantastic Hemmingway book. Ironically I read the book last time at Key Largo when I was a teenager. This time I understood a lot more of the writing. We also drove down to Key a West and enjoyed Sea Kayaking among the mangroves with my aunt.

Yesterday I finally started painting the Heldrake, something I've wanted to start for a month or more. It was fun but there's a lot of yellow to paint in prep for putting on gold.

diddled about with teh scales. Fiddly wee buggers, but I may go back and try and line in the wee lines with oils or summat. It's near impossible with regular paints. Also finished the red bits (gloves and gun).

Next up is the bonesword and other trimmin's. I may actually go with NMM gold rather than proper gold for the gold bits, cos the red looks semi NMM and having proper TMM with it looks a bit odd. I'll think about it and see. Any ideas?

Verra nice! I'd agree that NMM gold is probably going to be the way to go - not that I'd want to, like, do it, but you're the insane painter. :)

Looks like I'll have 1000 points of PHR ready for tomorrow. Just unit markings / lenses, gray plate edging, and some black line touchup and these fellas will be ready for a coat of sealer before I hit the hay.

I know what NMM is, but what is TMM?
