This evening I put about 40 Bones minis into the sink and scrubbed them with soap and a toothbrush to get the mould release agent off them. Oh and I pledged for the Bones III kickstarter. :D

Just having a scroll through the last few pages on this thread. Can I just say the collective painting standard of this group has skyrocketed since say 4 or 5 years ago. You've left my meager abilities well and truly in the dust Gents. There is some really excellent stuff. Well done guys, just goes to show if you keep at painting you can really improve.
Liked the IG, lady with feathers and tank as well as the mannequins. Any chance I can commission 3 in red and black MiJ :) Preferably with fox masks. :D

The hornet thing, I got stung by a long legged wasp last year and my whole hand went tingly it was not pleasant. I had to squeeze out the poison. Actually I sucked and spat it out but found out later your aren't supposed to do that. I've heard if you get stung a second time it can be fatal. Don't wear black when hanging out the washing is advised. They attack black. I got stung in November when collecting the washing after sundown! Weird.
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

@ash - aha! Fox-mask mannequin painting would be interesting, actually. As for the two-sting fatality, that'd only work if you had an allergy. One sting to sensitize the system (since you can't be allergic to something you've never encountered before) and a second sting to trigger the allergy. They'd need to be spaced out a bit though, as developing an immune response of that nature takes time. I heard the same thing about black setting em off, mind you. I've only ever been stung by a british annoying-fecker variety wasp. I stood on it in the garden and the cheeky bugger stung me right between my toes. Foot swelled up like a balloon - it was quite remarkable actually. Hurt like bloody hell, too, mind you, so despite the scientific interest I coulda lived without it...

Got a good bit of work done on the second half of my squad of guard. They're at that "blobs of subtly-different shades of brown" stage you get midway through realistic military paint jobs. Field drab and khaki and violet brown, oh my!

Showgirls, Dave. Showgirls. Top hats, sequined dresses and hosiery. You know you want to...

Ha ha. My psychedelic tyranids are my own personal showgirls.

Er, that sounds wrong somehow, doesn't it?

@MiJ, very impressive not-Liza Minelli. I can't help but wonder, when I see these Malifaux minis, how on earth they function in game. Metal canaries, nightmarish teddies etc. It's intriguing, but I have no idea what's going on.. nice to see companies are thinking outside of the box. I approve!

My wasp story is a bit pathetic. Stung by a dead one in 1985. It was lying on its back with sting pointing upwards on the kind of rubberised window sill of the 685 bus from Brampton to Carlisle. I put my arm down and it got me, and I realised what had happened after the fact.
I think I was off to town spend money on some MERP Citadel tie-in miniatures or the latest rpg release, and not paying sufficient attention.
That is not very interesting, but it is true.

Watched The Raid again before bed. Similar premise to Dredd, but Dredd was scripted and filmed before it, although The Raid was apparently released first. The action sequences are incredible, a kinetic frenzy of stabs and kicks, flips and breakages at a crazy pace. Not much in the way of plot or character development - it's a series of fights in a run down building (with very occasional dialogue to punctuate the screams and bloodletting) - but boy oh boy, are the fights good!
Really recommend a viewing if you haven't seen it.

I will give The Raid a whirl next chance I get. As for Mali minis, yeah - they're quite eclectic. It all makes sense in-game, though. The metalli-doves are summoned out of a hat by Colette, who is a stage magician (who can secretly use actual proper magic.) I really like the Malifaux fluff, truth be told. It's a mishmash of stuff that all just kinda works together. Steampunky, but with some novel twists.

Anyway, today I painted some base coats and took a really blurry picture :)

Where I got my brown blobs to last night:

Next I'll attack them with buff (ooh, very light tan, exciting!) to highlight the khaki on their tunics and paint their shirt cuffs and helmet linings, then do basically all their gear in brown violet (ooh, greenish-brown!).

I think I'll need to take a break from my Germans when these guys are done and do a quick batch of something with, y'know, colors.
