Geez MiJ that sucks (the break-in), hope your insurance sorts you out OK. Could have been worse I guess, at least they only took cash and not *everything*. :(

You can also use this to apply a coat of fine sand, which helps with both texture (which lets you go with the grainy white styrofoam too) and sealing. Although I actually use varnish for this (the same varnish I use for dipping, actually) - one coat to hold the sand on and another on top to make sure it's stuck down - since you can get it at the bigger 100 yen stores and it's already the right consistency for brushing on.

MiJ What the hell! Ok we need to form a watch. That is shocking. I can do polo mallet guard duty next time you go away. Sorry to hear this. :(

Cheers for the support, lads :)

This evening I was fairly constructive with my time. I went for a run, assembled 3 depleted, and watched the first ep of Attack on Titan, which was actually pretty good. Only 25mins, too, so you can kinda sneak one in without a major time investment. I shall be watching more in the days to come, methinks.

Those Malifaux minis look really impressive! Too bad they are such a pain to assemble.

I spent last Sunday at a Naginata tournament and came home with a 2nd place prize and a couple of self-inflicted bruises.
When I got home I used a funny-shaped bit of spare foam to make a neat rock.
shard.jpg
I covered it with tissue instead of paper, which made it wrinklier but left fewer obvious-looking edges. I made a hole in the bottom and filled it with metal washers which keeps it from falling over.
I would like to put a wash on it but I don't dare because the last time I tried the item deflated over the next several hours and became ... very strange. Perhaps that was a delayed reaction to adulterated paint though. I'll need to test again.

Anyway, I'm thinking next one I'm going to base it black and then work up from there. That should give me more color variation.

@ Aux- most curious about the "item deflation". I'm just trying to imagine what and how. And like the Stones say, "Paint it Black". I am a devoted follower of the Cult of Black Gesso. Gesso Seals! Gesso Strengthens! Lick it and it will show you visions from beyond beyond space and time! Gesso is all. Gessogessogesso Black Gesso!

Finished my first post-apocolypse wasteland wanderers...

I picked up a rule set called "this is not a test" recently that is skirmish gang-fighting in a post apocalypse fallout-inspired world. Looks pretty good, I'm keen to give it a go once my hang is done if anyone is interested.

I determined with a test today that washes would in fact work, so I put a black wash on the little rock when I got home.

I do think it looks even more like a rock now. The previous failures can be seen in the background. They started out as rocks, but the grey paint I used had a lot of replenishing solution and perhaps some thinner mixed in and over a few hours they became what you see. Rather more ... igneous ... than I had planned.

Anyway things are moving forward and I'm staying busy.

Would love to give that a try!
I read about it on LAF and thought it sounded very cool.

And this is why you should never, ever give Yellowstreak a preview of any secret projects you are working on, he will steal your ideas faster than you can say "Chapterhouse". At least acknowledge where you are plagiarising your ideas from you cheeky wotsit! He even used some of the same models as me.* :(

And now, before he can take credit for even more of my work, some WIP shots of my previously secret project.
