Voss will be able to clarify in greater detail, but he's only been at the school for a year, I know that much. MK is one of the few catholic schools in Mie, and SJ is fairly pally with it.

This is purely my uneducated opinion, but clauses like "may not work for school for X years" are blatantly illegal, an assertion I make due to it being utterly unenforceable. What the heck are the dispatch company going to do about it if Vossy gets a contract with the school? School haz teacher. Teacher haz job. Dispatch company ga kankeinai. The only influence the dispatch company could conceivably have is if the school were later to regret hiring someone direct and wanted to go back to using the dispatch company. That, and a general tendency to mutual backscratching between businesses here.

My two cents would be: Vossy should talk to the person-in-charge at the school and raise the prospect of direct hire. He should be able to lay out why that would be good for the school (=no need to re-teach the same shit to a new teacher every few years.) this would go hand in hand with him pledging to stick around, at least long enough to make it worth the school's trouble to stick their neck out for him. If he doesn't, this exact same situation will happen again, because as has been pointed out, the dispatch company earns their money by supplying schools with teachers. No movement of teachers = dispatch company becomes unnecessary.

MiJ got it pretty much right. School did try to do a direct hire and I am guessing that is what is happening. It is my first year but I have impressed the kocho and gakuincho pretty well. Kyoto is Ms. Negative and she won't be kyoto next year after some really really arrogant things she did.

It seems like the school told them they wanted to hire me and so Global Partners pulled my contract immediately from me then reminded them of the rules. I have passed along a lot of what has been said here as well as an offer to them to go with another company next time. With the new cirriculum changes over the next three years, it would be hell to get new teachers and train them in this ever changing mess.

Bada boom! All G.P can do is threaten the school and you with some sort of breach of their kinda, sorta illegal contract. It would be on them to actually follow through and prove that you are absconding with trade secrets or that them hiring you after the G.P contract expires is somehow damaging their business. If your school has the guts to tell these guys, "Thank you. We will be attending to our own staffing needs next school term." you could be set!
Global Partners does seem to be one of the better outfits though. Quick search shows they have some sort of business where they act as headhunters and find teachers for schools who want to hire direct. "EduCareer" Could be a trick though.......

Well this got a lot deeper fast. Turns out that my contract with global partners is illegal.

Forgive my rather blunt initial response. It sounds like you have a fighting chance of going direct. Go for it.

I'd agree with Ashmie. It sounds like you are suggesting there's a chance the school will hire you direct, so if they offer the chance I'd jump on it. If they like you and you like them then possibly you can work it out.

I was given a contract as a self-employed instructor. That means I cannot have any interaction with people at the school I work with in the performance of my job. That is completely impossible. A dispatch worker contract is what is needed. But that requires shakaihoken and cuts into their profits.

So the contract is illegal.

As for the school, the principal has changed his story so many times that I cannot keep them straight. The gakuincho is in my corner. I will talk to the sister tomorrow.
