What did you do today.
Re: What did you do today.
@AGP- making things with Kev White would be like....words fail me. One of my favorite sculptors.
Not that I've been doing much this week. Puttering around finishing up some Squats I did not quite get finished for Naghammer. Got mostly caught up on Game of Thrones and am now about 4 episodes in to Daredevil season 2. Too much TV geekery. Not enough artsy game-geekery.

...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

@agp - colour me jealous. I'd've very much liked to have been there.
@j-r int'restin defiler torso there.
As for me, I've been playing a lot of pooter games these days. Almost finished dying light, I think. It feels a bit final-ish, anyway.
I got my copy of Infinity:Human Sphere today. As with the base rulebook, the presentation is slick, although IMHO it's a tad overwhelming. Lots and lots on a single page. But, it's all very shiny and high production values. Freebie mini is nice, too. That said, this book's arrival did make it painfully clear to me that I really, reeeeaally need to actually play some games of Infinity, with, y'know, the base rulebook, never mind the add-on. Consider it bumped up the to-do list...

Yep, Infinity is one of those games that we need to play more of. I have everything I need now for a 3' by 3' board, close to 30 Yu Jing minis (most are still in the box though) and I like the game. If only I had the time to assemble, paint and play with it all.

I should be painting really, but I seem to have gotten the terrain bug. Began making a foamcard bit of wall, mostly for experimentation and fun. It's simple Helm's Deep Deeping Wall which should stretch for 60cm, based on the basic plans in the OOP Two Towers Journeybook. If that goes well, I'll try for the gatehouse and ramp etc, and post the cack-handed fruits of my labour here maybe!
I've been playing X-com2 occasionally, which is very slick in terms of options, concept and presentation. The pacing seems off though. I'm playing on the lowest setting, and it's still very difficult at times and feels quite unbalanced, which is a shame because everything else about it is great, and it looks gorgeous. Perhaps the noisy minority of "elite" gamers who like the trickiness of Dark Souls type games, have stuffed things up for us dirty casual gamers by encouraging studios to make rock-hard game experiences. Mind you, X-Com was always hard.

UFO and Terror from the Deep were downright impossible at times. I remember one game when on the first turn the aliens lobbed a missile into the back of my transport wiping out my entire team. Bad words were spoken that day. Apocalypse was a bit easier though, I think I still have that one somewhere....Lovejoy wrote:I should be painting really, but I seem to have gotten the terrain bug. As of late, I've noticed a tendency for games to become easier. Certain games tell you which buttons to press to beat the challenge, basically turning the game into one about reflexes and rhythm.

Xcom
I love that game and in the wise words of my brother: "Impossible, where the small UFO seems like the 115 just after last period" (115 being the bus route that had a stop near my old school)

I recently played through XCOM2 on regular difficulty Ironman mode. I only lost one soldier, and her on the last mission under rather difficult circumstances. I'm going to play it again when the expansions come out, but I think I'm going to need to get used to losing soldiers. That game just brutalizes human emotions.

Re: What did you do today.
Last night and this morning I got some work done for the first time in a good bit, getting the highlights on the black bits and the blocking in of the yellow bits on my next batch of terminators. Tonight I'll dial the black back and, if the mood strikes me, start working the yellow up.
Feel free to call me Dave!

@Prim, yep, X-com is still very much fashioned in that same soul crushing spirit of things...I only played the originals very briefly, but I remember the sense of indignant rage they instilled.
I love it so, why does it hate me?
I'll continue my Helms Deep project tonight.
Wow. I take my hat off to you sir. I have now abandoned my x-com 2 first attempt as I was being constantly overmatched both in numbers and by the alien tech (and the time limited vip missions are just ridiculously unfair sometimes). I put it down to learning the ropes. Now on a second try, things are coming together marginally better, but I don't want to get my hopes up too much. Now I know that I had enlarged the squad too late, prioritized the wrong research.Auxryn wrote:I recently played through XCOM2 on regular difficulty Ironman mode.
