In the this event scenario, how will we treat French resistances?
Could we include this in allied army? Let me know.
That is a good question.
I think it should be ok to have a few squads of locals running around causing trouble for the Germans, though obviously the focus should be on the beaches.
The Armies of France book has a Partisan list in it. I think the Resistance selector is suggested for the French Maquis, (the Liberation list is more for the Eastern Front), so use that as a starting point if you fancy getting a few freedom fighters.
I've already have French army book. French Maquis is very tempting for me than US ranger.

Ok. We can work something out with the Maquis.

What size should the relative forces be? I assume we are going to be following force selectors when structuring the armies, or were you thinking of generating a a master list of forces?

For people making new armies, build them according to the selector you have chosen and a points limit you feel happy with buying/building/painting. Once you know what you have, send me a list and I will begin putting together a full order of battle for each side. The game itself won't be using selectors or points values as such, the game will be pretty asymmetrical. The Allies will have an advantage in terms of men and equipment, but the Germans will be dug in. Both sides will have an overall strategic goal, which should be obvious to everyone given the scenario. In addition, each player will have their own set of goals and secondary objectives to keep things moving forward.

For anyone in the market for new or additional forces, Black Tree Designs are having a 50% off sale this weekend on WWII infantry: http://eoeorbisuk.com/

My FJ army is mostly BTD, I was pretty happy with their figs in general (had 1 or 2 bad miscasts though)
So many games, so little time....

I have been busy organising some terrain pieces and working on expansions for my armies. Lots and lots still to do. :)
At the moment we still have space for 2 Allied players and 3 German players. If we get enough interest, we can add another player or two per side.

Yellowstreak and I are working on ideas for the game. Obviously the plan is to make this game fun for all involved and to do something special. At the same time, we want to keep things rolling at a fair pace throughout the day, with as little time as possible spent looking up rules, checking LoS and so forth. To speed things along, Yellowstreak and myself will be acting as Umpires (as well as commanders if need be). We will try to be as impartial as possible.
Yellowstreak will also take on the role of SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Forces), while I will function in the role of OKW (Oberkommando der Wehrmacht). Special events during the game, airstrikes and off-table barrages will be prepared and agreed upon beforehand. This means that some national rules won't be used (British forces won't get their free observer for example), but you can expect some interesting surprises and a little more uniqueness to the game.

For those of you on the fence about attending, or not even thinking about it because you don't play BA:
THIS EVENT IS FREE!
Yep, that's right. No need to pay anything. (Of course, I am more than happy if people want to buy me a beer in gratitude).

So, here are some reasons to attend:
1. It's free.
2. You don't need an army.
3. It's a good chance to have fun playing with a bunch of people.
4. BA is a fun game and it is easy to transition from 40K without taxing your brain.
5. Hopefully we will be able to grab a bite to eat and perhaps a beverage afterwards.
6. You have months to clear it with your boss/wife/voices in your head.

Yellowstreak and I had a bit of a chat tonight and hashed out some of the details. Everything is looking good so far, I just need to build and paint about 5 armies worth of miniatures, a fleet of tanks and several tables of terrain. No worries! :D

@Primarch @Yellowstreak

I've obtained U.S. Army book & NW Europe front book from UK.
I haven't decided I'm going to build US army or French resistance.
Could we talk about it at Joshin in this weekend?

Just a quick update/clarification.

Bolt Action 2nd Ed. is due for release at the end of September. As we want to keep the game running smoothly and with as little confusion as possible, we will be using the 1st Edition rules. Think of this as a send off to 1st Ed.
