What did you do today.
Re: What did you do today.
Today I slapped more yellow paint on some Battleship Yamato 2199 ships. I hate how the primer still can be seen. Also glued some Deadzone Enforcers.

I finished another Strange Aeons agent this week. Painting single models certainly goes fast.
Now that all my agent models are finished I need to face up to finishing the cultists. Painting white is bleh.
Looks like XCOM2 alien hunters DLC has dropped as well, so I'll need to get into that as well.

I find mixing in a little light grey helps make the white less transparent and therefore cover better in less coats.Auxryn wrote: Now that all my agent models are finished I need to face up to finishing the cultists. Painting white is bleh.
I usually use Vallejo Light Grey and White in a 40:60 mix for the first coat, then 25:75 for the second.

Re: What did you do today.
For good coverage for white (or any similarly limp colour) I've found it works well to use many comparatively thin coats rather than try and force the paint to do something it can't with one thick coat slathered on optimistically. Also, a useful technique I learned was to apply the paint coats at right angles to each other. Eg if your first coat is applied from top to bottom of a shoulder pad, apply the next coat left to right. Do this a couple times and you'll have nice even coverage.
Alternatively, f you have a lot of white to do, either use white spray undercoat from the get-go and work with that, or buy an airbrush. Ab white is very effective.
Also, as has been noted above, white isn't actually white. It's grey highlighted up to white. Which grey you use affects how the mini looks, too. It's worth playing with multiple "whites" on a single mini, to get different feels for different parts of the fig.

Went to the in-laws, where my wife and children are. I've missed them..but they'll be back soon and then I'll wish I had more time alone, I daresay. We used part of the weekend to plan a garden. Quite excited about this.
Worked my way through 2 seasons of Black Sails by now - I would say that it starts slowly, but seems to shift a gear and become pretty terrific after first half of season 1. Clamouring for season 3 now.
I am also rewatching the hugely entertaining (for me at least) Inspector Morse episodes. Marvellous, if you like that slow burner take on detective shows.
Last year I made a decision to collect a decent amount of the LOTR SBG stuff whilst it was still around. A bit late to the party, but still...The news that GW were resurrecting Lord of the Rings stuff after letting it lie fallow has been of interest to me since I heard, and finally some old kits are returning to the site, (Boromir, Gothmog). It's pretty a unusual move I would say. There was a rumour that some kits may even be in Forgeworld resin rather than finecast material, but I would want to know more before actually throwing money at them. Supposely The Scouring of the Shire set (hobbits on ponies etc) is returning in metal. Bizarre, but I'm glad they're still supporting it.

2018 Hobby Progress: A modicum of Middle Earth SBG
Re: What did you do today.
Kind of a busy weekend for me hobby wise. I did some more work on some Lancastrian bowmen for Lion Rampant, put a wash on some British armoured cars/carriers for BA and I added a few spot colours to some Reaper minis. I also took delivery of 4 large sheets of mdf (3' by 2' each give or take), 9 similarly sized sheets of blue insulation foam, 12 sheets of foam core and a couple of large pots of paint. To round things off, I bought the new Battlefleet Gothic game and logged a couple of hours on that, watched the season 3 finale for Agents of Shield and watched Pan (Peter Pan origin story, with Hugh Jackman as the villain ), which was naff and Snowpiercer (SF movie with Chris Evans, aka Captain America), which was watchable, but rather bleak.
Phew!
Phew!

Re: What did you do today.
I finished off pretty much the last of my core BA French infantry, with a sniper team, ATR team and a set of artillery crew. I still have 10 Moroccan Goumiers and a Lorraine Tractor to paint, but there's no rush on them.
Tired of painting in shades of brown and khaki, I broke out my on-again-off-again Space Hulk bits and finished off 2 more Mentor Legion Terminators, 2 Genestealers and five Genestealer Hybrids - the old ugly plastic hybrids, not the new-fangled ones. One day I'll have them all done!

Re: What did you do today.
Business trip to Okinawa last weekend, but on the other hand today's off, so I've been chugging away at my Terminators. Black is done, yellow is blocked out, metal is blocked out, and really that's about 75% of the work. Looking on track to finish in time for my Sunday target, knock on wood.
Feel free to call me Dave!
