Ehrmagerd guys, the color scheme I stumbled into for my UCM fleet kind of makes me want to collect a whole fleet of 'em.

Image

(Stolen from the Normandy's Systems Alliance color scheme in Mass Effect 3.)

The blue and gray are base coats, and will each get a much lighter color on top to let panel lines show up, then a touch of edge highlighting.

But man, I think it'll work pretty dang good.

Yussss

The angle combined with the curvature of the hull makes the lines look curvier than they actually are - they're (pretty well) straight viewed from the top.

I'm debating whether to paint the point defense laser turrets (the tiny little things under the big mass driver turrets) metallic. The realist in me says that there wouldn't be necessarily any exposed metal on this at all - like, do you see modern warships with the barrels of their cannons bare metal?

I'm guessing rust is less of an issue in hard vacuum.

nice work on the ship there, ToD. Getting serious twitchy eye what with your updates and what feels like the rest of my facebook feed filling up with nowt but pics of Dropfleet stuff. But all that shall change soon, oh yes it shall

Today I finished another Tiefling. This one is cast in Bones, and it's apparent in the sculpt. Still, a pretty cool duder, all things considered.

In a bit of a painting frenzy, I finished up a couple New Orleans-class strike carriers for the UCM.

Still pretty sporty, but what the heck, I like the look.

Bah. still not got mine.

Still, I picked up about a dozen complete, plus another five or so incomplete, =][=nquisitor minis yesterday, from someone shifting a load of old lead at our club's all-day gaming session yesterday.

Hopefully this won't hurt their business too badly. I kind of think it won't - there's been some vocal nastiness on Facebook and the KS page, but most folks seem to be pretty well balanced between being slightly annoyed at not getting their toys and understanding that the Kickstarter was much much huger than Hawk anticipated it would ever be.

I, uh, finished up 4 more frigates today. Only the heavy cruisers for each side for demo games, then there'll be no hurry a'tall to finish up my Scourge fleet and think about whether I want to spend the money for a full UCM or PHR fleet before I get a feel for how (or if) the game's going to take off here.

Had Mikball come over to my place on the weekend for a game of Heralds of Ruin 40K Kill Team (https://heralds-of-ruin.blogspot.jp/p/k ... rules.html) with his Chaos Marines taking on my Sisters of Battle. We were both pretty 40k rusty so there was a lot of rulebook checking, but a good little battle ensued with the Sisters just coming out on top by managing to grab more objectives.
I really like the skirmish-sized format and am planning on finishing up my Genestealer Cult and maybe some Marines for HoRKT-sized games.

We also played a modified version of 'This is not a test' - adding some weapon noise and random zombie rules to a couple of small gangs of 'survivors' hunting for water. It ended up basically a draw (although Mik had more water on the board) with both gangs suffering pretty badly to the undead in the long run - one persistent zombie ate two of of gang members and Mik's gang ended up in a big zombie melee for most of the game...!
So many games, so little time....
