Seeking Advice: New Player w/ Hive Tyrant Conversion
Hello everyone!
I'm a new player of 40k, and I'm completely green to the miniature scene in Japan as well. I've decided to build a Tyranid force and my first project will be a fully magnetized Hive Tyrant with wings.
So some questions for you fine nippon ni sunde iru gamers:
1. What's the best way I can pick up some Balrog wings? I'll use the ones from GW's LOTR line. I know they have a direct order service at GW, but I'm not sure they sell bits individually. Advice?
2. Does anyone know if they sell Dremel knockoffs here? I don't want to spend the money on a full Dremel tool-- just a cheapy will do. I know you can get some real cheap ones in the states-- any cheap hand drill spinny things to be had here? Do you think this kind of conversion could be done with a simple, non motorized hand drill and some elbow grease?
3. Has anyone seen rare earth magnets for sale? I'll probably just pick some up from maelstrom games.co.uk when I buy order my battleforce and paints, but having a range of sizes would be nice. It's a longshot I know, but hey.
Thanks in advance!

A good start for magnets would be to PM (username) me- in- japan. He is the only guy I know who has most of his stuff magnetized
As for the wings. There are better options than balrog wings look in the painting and modeling part of forum I will post more in a bit

Actually, Balrog/Dragon wings fit quite nicely with a bit of work.
As an alternative, might I suggest that you look at this page and scroll down towards the bottom. I'm not sure as to the exact size, but the wings here should be big enough.

thanks for the help, guys!
yeah those wings look really nice and they are a good price! if I can find out that they're big enough I'll pick them up for sure. you think they're resin sculpted?

I think so. I believe (but I'm not sure) that all of Ultraforge's stuff is resin.

yup - UltraForge stuff is all resin. Dont panic about using it, though. Its easy to drill, as long as youre carefull. It snaps much, much more easily than plastic, and if you heat it (e.g. with a blowdryer or convection heater) itll go all limp and bendy. This can be useful if theres a miscast, cos you can fix it. Wear a mask when drilling or sanding resin! its totally fine to handle, though.
