Sat down to clean up those Pantheon of Chaos figures a couple days back. Either MIJ already did it for me before handing them over, or they are really, really well cast. The slightest bit of mold line on a couple of boots. Odd bits of papery flash on one of the others. I spent longer carefully searching for flaws than actually trimming any. The metal, weird, long necked guy was flawless. His funny long arms even fit perfectly. Nice tabs, won't even have to pin him. The resin figures have slightly softer detail than the metal ones, but not enough to make any difference with my ham-fisted painting style. Looking forward to getting some paint on these oddballs.

I sold one! Does that mean I'm a 'Pro-painter' now
Only 8 more to go. Actually 1 1/2 to break even. For anyone interested it was the Panther.

In other news, I finished my Italian theatre Heer Army, which is basically the same as my DAK army but worse quality wise (Regular vs Veteran) and 'Boomier' Anti-Tank wise.

I finished up this guy tonight:

Things I might go back and touch up later: cleaning up the lettering on the scrollwork, giving the metallics a wash, maaaaybe adding some sort of air-recognition stuff to the rhino hatch. But overall, can't complain (although the chapter symbol, as always, came out slightly wonky :D )

Edit: also I just noticed I forgot to paint the headlights. Bother.

Nice! You can barely see the dip.

Seriously though, that is some nice, neat work. Did you put on all those highlights with a drybrush or did you do each one by hand?

Thanks!

Yeah, it's all drybrushing - actually I gave the whole model a very heavy, indiscriminate drybrush all the way up through white, then used a semi-translucent mix of black ink and german gray to repaint the panels, leaving just the edges exposed - for me, that requires a lot less brush control than trying to paint on neat edge lines, which keeps me (relatively) sane. It's the way I do the infantry, too, although they get straight black on the armor panels as they don't need the "make it look bigger with a lighter shade" trick a vehicle wants.

Wow that looks way more effective than I would have thought. Going to have to try it. Guess the key is a really stark contrast between the drybrush colour and the the base colour.

The worst thing about it is that it turned out so well I kind of want to do more... :D
