What did you do today.
Re: What did you do today.
@M_i_J - Nice work as usual. The eyes look fine to me, but if you think your own eyesight is getting a bit weak, go get your eyes tested. Better that than straining your eyes and making things worse in the long run.

I spent most of my free time yesterday and this evening painting flesh tones on some Saxons. Still more to do before they are finished though.

@MIJ nice team, the first one needs a bug on the stone, looks likes she is backing away or about to squash a bug

2nd that awesome metal work too.The Other Dave wrote:Thanks, guys. Believe me, nobody is more surprised than I about the recent turn of events vis a vis "Dave getting back into 40K and painting up an army," heh. (My last marine army was white, so I'm used to a much slower and curse-filled painting process. The speed with which it's possible to do a mostly-black army, especially with my laughably lazy edge highlighting technique, is a very welcome change.)
@MiJ - Awesome work as per usual! I wouldn't say the eyes look particularly googly at all! They look heavy on the eye shadow, which is perfectly appropriate for the minis, but I wouldn't have noticed anything particularly out of whack. I really like how the metal's turning out as well.
I hear your eyestrain pain. I started painting with grand-dad specs a few years back and now...well...I just wear grand dad specs all day and paint with a x5 magnifier strapped to my forehead on top of those...... You are not getting any younger my friend. Get your eyes checked!
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

Fully agree re: your eyes. My eyes have always been bad, but I think one of the best hobby investments I've made is a desktop magnifying glass with built-in light. It took a little getting used to at first, but now I wouldn't want to paint without it!Konrad wrote:2nd that awesome metal work too.The Other Dave wrote:Thanks, guys. Re: What did you do today.
Nice! That reminds me that I should probably base up the rest of my own vikings.
This morning I finished up this fella:

...which finishes up my half of the Dark Imperium box for reals. I couldn't tell for sure until I glued the banner on, but I'd been hoping / thinking that the bigness of the banner would temper the ridiculous hugeness of his ostentatious headgear - and it did! Props also to the Gundam Marker for making the lettering that much easier; not perfect, but a far sight better than I could've done with a brush. If you don't have one, and find lettering a PITA, go ahead and pick one up. 200 yen well spent!
Now I guess I'll do that basing, and get to work on the genestealer hybrids to round out my ASC set.

@ToD - Nice, the heraldry at the bottom of the banner is a great touch!
