@M_i_J - That is an exceptionally fine Mega-Dread and no mistake. Well done! It's colourful and eye-catching, you should paint Orks more often.

Feel it MIJ, under all that swoosh, and prancing and plumage, there is a big, hulking, bloodstained green berzerker bursting to get out. Listen to your inner WAAAAAGH!

I was going to post the measly zombie I finished today, but after that dread I feel it's too poor of an offering to the miniature gods :shock: good job MiJ!

*MiJ's actual voice* Thanks for the kind words, all.

*MiJ's inned voice*but...but...what about the swoosh?

On another note: Cake is an unforgiving sculpting medium.

on another, other note: @konrad: for many years now I've had this germ of an idea, where my two painty loves meet in the form of an eldar who got stranded on an ork planet and had to steal bits of orky tech to survive. Like, an eldar exodite, except all grizzled, with torn ears, scars, teef necklace (for trading with the locals), and a jetbike composed of all the red bitz wot go fasta. There would also be a trenchcoat. And probably a hat.

It'd be awesome 8-)

@M_i_J - Impressive work!

I managed several hours behind the brush this evening. I spent my time doing a pile of Saxon shields, some rocks and hand painting some Chapter symbols on a squad of marines. That was not much fun to be honest, but they look ok, from a distance. :?

You need Tamiya clear red, or I suppose any gloss varnish would work if you mixed a bit of dark red paint in it. Anyway, get yer somewhat-gloopy-transparent-red-paint, and dip an old toothbrush in it. Using your finger (if you're feeling fastidious, wear rubber gloves) flick the bristles at your mini.
Woot! My local book/hobby store had Tamiya Clear Red in stock, so I picked some up today. :D

It's a big step, but I think I'm ready to make the commitment.

I... I got dice to match my army.

Today I started on the bases of a bunch of models. I have been trying out some of Vallejo's offerings for basing materials rather than using the old PVA/Sand combo. So far they've been pretty good. I have used their Grey Pumice a few times now. It is essentially a varnish/resin mix with small grains of resin in it. When it dries it's tough and doesn't flake off like sand will. It can be spread on the base as you apply it, allowing you to have it fairly thin or glooped up in one spot, so it looks a lot less uniform than sand as well. Tonight I tried using Vallejo's White Stone effect. It goes on like cake icing/frosting and remains fairly gooey for a while so you can swirl it around a bit. Once it's dry I'll have a go at it with some paints to see how it holds up.

@ToD - You're getting a wee bit obsessive don't you think? :lol: :lol:
