I sort of got ahead of my priming queue, so tonight I painted some barrels (for a month-late Prim's Gauntlet challenge, heh), and primed my skeletons for Shadespire. Whee!

After a few days off playing Magic, I'm back painting again - this time on some quick poxwalkers for my nurglies. The goal for them is speed painting, as I have 30 of the buggers to get through. This chap took an hour, plus another hour to airbrush the group of 10 that he's part of. If anyone has any suggestions for improvements, by all means fire away. He's number 1 of 30, and I figure on a gradual improvement as I go through them

I've been thinking about this after seeing it on FB as well, and I'd say if you make his coat white (or something that was once white) it'll be perfect. As it is, a whole bunch of these guys might look just a tad dark from table distance.

Yeah, I agree with ToD. The model itself is great, but you may (or may not as your tastes dictate) want to lighten up the coat a touch. Maybe just some highlights across the shoulders?
Of course, a lot depends on how you plan to base the figure as well.

So, here is my finished test piece using Vallejo White Stone texturing for the base and Tamiya Clear Red for some blood splatter.

I'd say just about right for "egregiously gory," heh.

if you were aiming for "last episode of The Punisher" or thereabouts, then it's spot on :)

Here's Poxy #2. Hopefully his clothes are a bit brighter than Poxy 1, although I appreciate that his skin (what can be seen of it) is still pretty dark. I've upped the brightness on subsequent Poxies, so hopefully tomorrow's will be more pleasing t' the eye.

Well, as much as can be expected, anyway...

@Prim -
"Merciless" is perhaps the best descriptor for the Carcharodons in combat, but even that does not describe the depths of blood-soaked slaughter to which they are willing to descend. They fight with a wild abandon that could make even the most impetuous Space Wolves Blood Claw take pause, and do not ask for or grant mercy to their opponents beyond a quick (though seldom clean) death. In a way, they seem to see the universe very much in terms of black and white, enemy and ally. Anyone who stands against the Imperium, for whatever reason, can only expect a brutal demise at the hands of the Carcharodons.
Maybe a bit more blood! :D Well done for hand painting all the shoulder pads with the chapter symbol!!! That was a mighty effort sir!

@M.I.J - Look forward to seeing the next Poxy. :)

Great gore splatter! Is the whole army going to look like that or just the assault guys? I can see Rhinos with gore-encrusted treads....

@MiJ really like the second poxy. The slightly brighter clothes are a winner.
So many games, so little time....

*I realise this may be starting to get monotonous. As previously mentioned, there are 30 of these guys to get done, but I dont honestly see myself getting through more than about 10 before I break and have to paint something else. So hang in there and something different will eventually be forthcoming. Apologies for the possible overload of Pox at the moment.
