Today I finished off some medieval Arabians.
A squad of light cavalry.

And a unit of infantry.

The models are all from Gripping Beast, except for the command models in the infantry group, which came from Black Tree Design. The Banners are from the Shed Wars blog. The text on the shields is courtesy of Google Translate.

Also, because I felt like it, I painted a Genestealer.

It is largely just drybrushing and washes and the colour scheme was inspired by Third Eye Nuke Studio's work.

Nice work Prim. What game are the Arabians for?

I picked up Rangers of Shadow Deep recently (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/25 ... nture-Game). It's by the same guy that wrote Frostgrave and is a single player or co-op tabletop skirmish game based on a modified version of the Frostgrave engine. It looks like a lot of fun, so I've been raiding my bits to assemble some rangers.
So many games, so little time....

Thanks!

When I have enough of them assembled and painted, the plan is to use them for Pikey's fantasy mod for Hail Caesar. They are all single based though, so I can also use them for Saga (if I get the Crusades expansion) or Dragon Rampant.

Maybe we should change the title of this thread to 'What did you do this week?'
Yesterday I started work on some Gurkhas for my Bolt Action in Burma project. I also tried out some different painting techniques on a spare model. Nothing ground breaking, but not something I usually try.

And here it is. I tried out wet blending on the arms, legs and tail, plus using gloss medium in the wash to try to create a 'wet' effect.

good for you for trying wet blending. I find when it works it's bloody marvelous, and when it doesnt, its bloody muddy. Nice work on that tail there, though - spot on stuff :)

It's too fiddly for my usual production line style of painting, but for the odd model here and there it might be fun to try every now and again.
I think wth the daemonette, the differences in shade and tone between the purple and the biege were to big to do in one blend. Do you think a mid tone and another band of blending between the two would help if I were to try it again?

@Prim - I'm no expert when it comes to wet blending, but aye - that's what I'd try. I find legs and similarly sized areas to be good places to use it, but as you said, if the transition is too big it gets too hard to make the blend smooth. So, yeah, next time using a mid tone might help smooth things out. It tends to depend on the actual colours involved, too, fwiw.

Nice stuff Prim. I like to work wet-on-wet every now and again. Not the easiest way to work, but sometimes it's the best way to get smooth, organic looking gradation. The tail on that gribbly is a perfect example. The Arabs are looking good too. I still have about 30 to go on my project.
