I have the most toys, so there! :-P

Post by Mike the Pike » Wed Sep 22, 2010 2:37 pm

As a result of various serious threads getting jammed up with people boasting about how many toys they have I have decided to create this thread as a place where people can show off how just how 'cool' they really are.
:D :D :D

I have even decided to create categories of coolness with cool criteria so we can finally decide the issue once and for all.

Category 1: How many fully assembled and painted (to at least table top standard) armies do you own? Armies as defined by me, being

A 1500pt 40K force with options: 3
A 2000pt+ WFB army with options: 3
A 1500pt FOW army with options: 4
A Warmahordes whatever: 0
A full Bloodbowl team:1
A Mordheim warband:1
A Necromunda gang:0
A Malifaux crew:0

My answers are in red. By my own reckoning I get 12 cool points just there. 8-)

Category 2: How many models over 15 years old do you own? This is toughy if you don't know your GW history.

Me: lot's, 100plus mostly marines, beastmen and Chaos warriors.

Category 3: How many blister packs/boxes are cluttering up your closet at the moment?

Me: Tons, including plentiful reinforcements for all the above armies plus at least 3 completely new armies for WFB and FOW.

Category 4: How many FW models (not including shoulder pads etc) do you own.

Me: Sadly. 0.

Still by reckoning that gives me exactly 563 cool points (arrived at using a variety of algorithms far beyond your comprehension).

Think you can beat that? Let's see what you got! 8-)

P.S. My Dad can also beat up your dad! :D

Right, I will weigh in on this one;

Cat 1 - 8
Cat 2 - A lot but maybe not 100. All my orks are pre 1995 and most are 198/87
Cat 3 - Enough for a new 40k army
Cat 4 - 1 but it is the mental looking Khorne bloke so counts as at least triple points

Not sure what my total is but it is it but 564 sounds about right. ;)

Moderated score: -564 due to the fact that the scoring algorithm assigns a negative value to any and all Khorne models. Sorry :)

Sadly the paint requirements really hurt me.

A 1500pt 40K force with options: 1 1/2 (1/2 because I have a fully painted iron warriors army stateside but not sure if the points make it to the 1500 pnt mark anymore)
A 2000pt+ WFB army with options: 0
A 1500pt FOW army with options: 0
A Warmahordes whatever: 0
A full Bloodbowl team:3
A Mordheim warband:0
A Necromunda gang:2
A Malifaux crew:0

6 1/2 points there for me

Category 2: How many models over 15 years old do you own? This is toughy if you don't know your GW history.

Many. Manly chaos marines but beastmen, empire, dwarfs, and a smattering of other things. I'll give myself 50

Category 3: How many blister packs/boxes are cluttering up your closet at the moment?
Well I just did a major cleaning of excess boxes and blister packs so that hurts.

Round out at 15 for now.

Category 4: How many FW models (not including shoulder pads etc) do you own.

A few. Two super heavies, lots of tanks. 6 I think

So I'm well behind Pikey. 76 1/2 If I had time to paint and wasn't selling stuff/gave stuff away, I could get my numbers up a lot higher.

Oh and Pikey, feel free to get your dad to try and beat my dad up. Shouldn't be hard. He's the runt of the litter.

Official score: 76.5 not a bad effort there Voss.

This thread is only going to continue until Prim finds it, at which point he'll weigh in and the rest of us will slink off, looking enviously over our shoulder at the clear winner standing triumphant behind us.

for what its worth : (strictly observing mike's caveat of fully assembled and painted)

A 1500pt 40K force with options: 2 (do I get more points for having 3000pts in a painted army. like, does it count twice?)
A 2000pt+ WFB army with options: 0
A 1500pt FOW army with options: 0
A Warmahordes whatever: 0, soon to be 1
A full Bloodbowl team:3
A Mordheim warband:1
A Necromunda gang:2
A Malifaux crew:0, soon to be 1

models over 15 years old:

hmmn. plenty of eldar (even some RT stuff), some really old chaos (fantasy), skaven. I'd say somewhere between plenty and lots.

blister packs/boxes cluttering up your closet
A fair few. Mostly Malifaux and Warmachine, but also a good deal of Heresy miniatures stuff. I tend to open and prep things Ive bought immediately, as I take a long time prepping them and hate having to spend an evening prepping a model Ive suddenly had a muse descend upon me and order to paint.

FW models
more than I should. hmmn. lemme see:

21 infantry
1 dreadnaught
1 blightdrone
and the big mommas, - 1 Revenant Titan and 1 Cobra, pizza delivery service of Doom.

Using the same algorithm Mike used, I work it out as my having 565 points. Oh, and Mike, youve got 562. You shouldnt have rounded up back there

Official score: Mmmmmm? I make your score 561. It seems that maths wasn't your strong suit at school :D

*edit* pah! I sat loads of maths tests in school! loads of em, I say!

You may have sat a lot of tests. However, I don't think that you passed many of them :D

Weeeeeellllll lemme see:
A 1500pt 40K force with options: Crimson Fists, Ravenguard, Nids (thanks to ToD), Deathwing, so 4
A 2000pt+ WFB army with options: High Elves 1 (with Bretts on the way thanks to Spev)
A 1500pt FOW army with options: 0 VERY soon to be 1, within the next week actually.
A Warmahordes whatever: 0, soon to be 1
A full Bloodbowl team:0
A Mordheim warband:0
A Necromunda gang:0
A Malifaux crew: Guild 1, almost 2 (my arcanists need a last lick of paint) 3 or 4 by the end of the year.

models over 15 years old:
Probably not that many to be honest. When did the original Gobbos vs High Elves box set come out for WFB? I have a lot of those guys as well as Advanced Heroquest skaven. I have a few classic Rhinos and lots of Leman Russ (which up until it got redone was the oldest model still in production).

blister packs/boxes cluttering up your closet
Enough to get a divorce should my wife ever do a stock-take

FW models
1 Shadowsword, 1 Plasma-sword (being traded to pikey this weekend), 1 Barbed Hierodule, 2 Drop Pod kits (unbuilt), 1 Rhino and 1 Razorback kit (unbuilt), 1 Marcharius Heavy Tank. Several Russ turret upgrades (various stages), 2 Tyranid Caplliery Towers and 1 Missile Silo (courtesy of Giovanni at GW Japan).

And whilst Pikey's dad may be able to beat up my dad, my father has a 1:1 scale Canadian Ford CMP

Total dorkness points : Over 9000

Cool score: 323 too many cavaets to score too highly. Bad luck old bean. :)
You do win the prize for dorkiness however. Well done there.
P.S. My Dad has a Toyota corolla. So there! :-P

So does the person with the highest score recieve kudos, mockery, or divorce?

Anyway:

Category 1:

A 1500pt 40K force with options: 5 - Marines (about 4,000 points worth), Daemon Hunters, Eldar (about 9,000 points worth), Orks, IG.
A 2000pt+ WFB army with options: 3 (Skaven, Bretonnians, Chaos Dwarves)
A 1500pt FOW army with options: 0
A Warmahordes whatever: 0
A full Bloodbowl team: 3 (2 different Skaven teams & an Undead team)
A Mordheim warband: 2 (Witch Hunters & Skaven)
A Necromunda gang: 5 (Orlock, Delaque, Van Saar, Spyrers, Redemptionists)
A Malifaux crew: 0

Also 2 large BFG fleets (Eldar & Imperium), 3 HUGE Epic forces (Tyranids, Eldar & Imperium), and a GorkaMorka Mob.

Category 2: How many models over 15 years old do you own?
I was going to say "A couple of hundred, mainly Eldar & Chaos Dwarves" (I started playing in 1993), but then I realised that Warhammer Quest came out over 15 years ago, so: About 500 (Yes, I have 3 copies of Warhammer: Quest. IT'S AWESOME).

Category 3: How many blister packs/boxes are cluttering up your closet at the moment?

Only about ten or so IN the closet. 2000 points worth of Dark Elves still in boxes in a stack next to my desk though. Oh, and of course an ungodly number of unpainted miniatures that are sadly no longer in their blisters and boxes, depriving me of points. Little metal gits.

Category 4: How many FW models (not including shoulder pads etc) do you own.

10: 4 Super-heavies (2 IG & 2 Eldar), an Aquila Lander, 2 Dreadnought drop pods, 2 of the old FW drop pods, 2 old statues, and an IG gun emplacement (and a bunch of terrain, altars, pillars, that kind of thing, which I'm not counting. And about 25 normal dudes from Forge World (Elysians and some characters), which I also didn't count). Oh, and I guess I technically own the Caestus Assault Shoebox, since I've paid for it, even if it hasn't been delivered yet. So actually 11.

And the worst part of all that is: the aforementioned painted 9,000 points of Eldar and 4,000 points of Marines? That's only about a third of my Eldar and about 20% of my Marines.

In conclusion, GW has more of my money than I do.

And as for my dad, he just turned 70. And he's TERRIFYINGLY FIT. I'm reasonably certain he could beat up all of us with one arm. I just have to hope he never sees this list and realises how much money I've spent on this stuff over the years...

Official score: The algorithm has spoken and awards 564 points so Seneschal wins it by a nose. The distinct lack of FOW models severly hampered his score but sheer volume wins in the end :D

Its the "Painted" requirement that really nails my score.
If bare naked plastic was ok, things may be a lot closer.

Chaos Dwarves were my first WFB army. I'd say I have about 3000 points of them, though obviously it's impossible to say since they don't have an "official" army list right now.
