Wargaming/Warhammer in Aomori Prefecture
So I found out that I am PCSing to Misawa Air Base, if there are any wargamers in the Misawa Area I would like to know if there are Rogue Traders/Gaming Clubs that are local to the area. If there is a good sized community. I do know the Air Base has a Table Top Room that is only open on Saturday 1400-2200. But I am looking more for stores/shops that may have more flexible hours and that would not necessarily mind a YouTuber filming a Battle Report here and there.

Hi,
The last time we had a member from Aomori post here was 2011 and he was based at Misawa as well. From the sound of things the largest gaming community is likely to be on the base. Wargaming in general is not so big in Japan, especially outside the major cities. Games Workshop have been doing a lot recently to push their products in hobby/toy stores, so things are slowly changing. According to the GW store finder, the nearest store is in Tokyo which is a long way from Aomori.
Your best bet is probably to contact people at Misawa and see if they know of anything local to them.
Sorry I can't offer more information.

Welcome to the forum!
I know there's at least some people up that way who play - it looks like they had a miniature games club meeting as recently as October - but Twitter has been slow about getting them in touch with me directly.

Can you contact them and see if they would be interested in playing 40k with me and for the Channel? I won't have my stuff with me until roughly August time frame, due to my house getting packed up and shipped. My YouTube Channel is https://www.youtube.com/Commissar0Hecht. You and they can see the videos I produce. I really want to make sure that I have a home for the channel and hobby. because I been to a base where my hobby was collecting dust and it isn't fun.The Other Dave wrote:Welcome to the forum!

They have to get in touch with me first
It's kind of a game of telephone at this point - I know on Twitter a guy in Iwate, who knows a guy in Aomori, and the guy I know has asked the guy I don't know to get in touch with me but hasn't given me the Aomori guy's info. Ah, niche hobby networking!

Welcome to the forum.
Can’t speak for Aomori or Misawa, having never been to the area. However 9 years in Japan has taught me that the hobby land scape is varied and disparate. Usually there are little groups of Japanese war-gamers out there, but generally some level of Japanese language ability is key. There are also ex-pat circles, however the bulk are in the big cities (Tokyo, Osaka).
If you are willing to travel for the hobby, I’m sure you can arrange and enjoy games. Anyway, you could combine the hobby with seeing the country if you like.

Well I want to thank all of you for the help and support and I can give you this promise and offer,
even if your friend and his group don’t get back to you. Once I get settled in and my house hold goods arrive in station and my wife and I unpack. I can head down to where you are or you may come up to me and I will debut your Army on the Channel and have a Battle Report with you and whoever else is interested. This is for thanks for helping find a home for the hobby.
