@Koji Nice paintjob dude! Love those bases!
@Ash Good to hear you're doing well.
@Prim Nobody cranks out minis like you do. You're a painting machine...!

I've been painting stuff for Frostgrave/Ranger of Shadow Deep and more recently for Konflikt '47. finally getting my Germans done as there's a guy in the Bolt Action group who wants to try it out.

My wife and baby arrive in the US this Friday! Looking forward to being together as a family again, even if the gaming/painting may take a hit for a while.

@ToD - I thought you'd appreciate the epic stuff.
@Underdweller - I hope you like them, just try not to eat all of my reporters with them.
@YS - Indeed, but some of the guys in the painting challenge put me to shame. I hope all goes well on Friday.

The big news from me today is that painting challenge is finished. Technically there are still a few hours left, but I made my last post at 2 a.m. last night and I won't get anything else done before the deadline. My final score has been set, it's just a question of seeing what everyone else gets done before the cut off point. I can honestly say that I am tired of painting, but oddly I feel like painting some more.

This lot below isn't my final entry, these were posted up a day or two ago.

A bunch of minis for after the apocalypse/Brexit.

And a group of Goliaths.

These guys were surprisingly fun to paint up and the went together really easily. The new kit is excellent, though they are massive figures. The way the arms connect to the torso allows for some fairly realistic musculature and there are loads of options on the sprue.

@ Primarch: Nice Necromunda figures. I’ve been tempted to get a box myself.

I finished for the most part a small IG Patrol Detachment.

Yeah those Goliaths are great figs.

So is post-Brexit apocalypse a genre now? Quick let's publish a game!

@Prim and Job - Good work lads! Small crews or small platoons are always more pleasant to paint; you know that the goal to reach the finish line is not so far away, you see.

Got to get cracking myself! But hey, I got one miniature done, right? It's a start! :D

Went all the way to jus's place (it's right next door, that's the joke) for an evening of Zombicide, which was good fun! I think he'll agree that the game could stand to be a bit more tightly-designed and -balanced, but all in all it's a good fantasy zombie apocalypse experience, and the miniatures (and his paint jobs) are fantastic.
Feel free to call me Dave!

@Job, Yellowstreak & Koji - Thanks!

Not strictly a painting thing, but this evening I made my first 8th edition army list. Since I am using points, not power, I felt it was a bit awkward having to look at different pages across two books to work out how much everything cost and what options were available. (It would have been 3 books as my dreadnought is built using Imperial Armour rules, though I ran out of points before I could add it to the list).

I'm assuming 1 HQ, 2 Troops, 1 Heavy Support and 1 Dedicated Transport is a legal army at 500 points.

Well, the painting challenge is all done and dusted. Before I get on to my final results, here are my last few entries.

A Zulu chief. The model has some strange white marks on the face, but they're just reflection from the camera flash.

Some Natal Natives for the Anglo-Zulu War.
Image

Some D&D minis.

A squad of Japanese for Bolt Action.

And some Polish.
Image

And finally a small bunch of Black Templars. These were painted in Vallejo black, given a few spot highlights in a medium grey and then given a blue glaze to add some depth to the black.

And with that out of the way, on to my final result.

Of the 85 people who entered, I placed 10th.
My initial target was 500 points (with 5 points the award for a standard 28mm figure, more for vehicles, less for smaller scales and with bonuses for entering special themed rounds and for things like flags and shields).
My final score was.... 1758 points, more than 350% of what I expected to get.
I also entered a side challenge to see who could paint at least 25 points (see above) of models from as many different genres and scales as possible.
I placed... first! 22 different scales and genres across my entries.
In total, across the 3 months of the challenge, I painted 269 figures (counting epic bases as 1 model).

I never want to see another paint brush again.

For the curious, the person who placed first scored over 6250 points and painted nearly 1500 models. He is retired, but it is still a staggering level of focus and energy for anyone.

@Prim - Great stuff mate. I have heard and seen blue being used with black to good effect. Nice choice there.

Are the Black Templars of Prim's Crusade to purge the unclean the of Nagoya?
