@M_i_J: It desn't look too bad to me mate. Maybe it's the photo or summink. As TOD says, garish is not a word that springs to mind. That said, I have no idea what one of these things is 'meant to' look like.

@TO: Nice work. Your smurfs...ummm, err I mean gobbos are really coming along now. :D
That 50 model unit looks like something I would like to introduce to 26 Dark Elves at some stage in the near future.
When the whole lot is done, it's gonna look very nice on the table top.

Man, why aren't there any Dwarf players around?

At the moment, unfortunately (on account of the models included in Skull Pass) it's 2 25-model units, which is even worse. I'll probably combine them into a single big-as-I-can-make-it unit for Sunday, though.

Cheers for the input, folks. I was kind of aiming for dull-and-weathered, with the green-oddess coming from the skulls/souls on his base. Im still not convinced it conveys the image I want. And, as badruck points out - for some reason, despite 8 or so layers, it still looks rough as a badger's arse. Meh. I might just re-do it in bronze...

@ToD - dude! sweet! That is a fine collection of smublins, and something to be proud of. My hat's off to you for getting so many done in so short a time, and to such a damn fine standard. Sir, I salute you

I command thee to RISE!!!!

right, with the threadomancy out of the way, I just wanted to say that I am back on the wagon and painting Primarch's Primarch. I am also pleased to report that between then and now my blending got a whole helluva lot smoother (and, oddly, faster. Go figure...)

So, aye. On schedule to get the wee bugger finished by November :D Pics once I have time to spare to take em, and once Ive done more than the highlights for his rightside claw illuminations.

If anyone has any suggestions along the lines of "you missed a bit - the left hand rim of the eagle head on his plastron should be much brighter" then please, by all means fire away.

ps in the top pic theres a fairly bright blue bit on his left (looking at him) leg just where the laurel is. Thats not paint - thats the blue background i photographed him against and failed to chop out in photoshop...

It looks pretty good. The only CC I would offer is;

1) The lighting effect on the shoulder feather seems to end a bit abruptly
2) On the breast plate, the top of the minis left wing could do with being a bit lighter on the tips.

Very pretty. I might brighten the claws up a bit as they seem to be the light source. From the photo they seem to be about the same tint as the gloves behind them.
