That's... a lot of eyes
Like yourself, I decided to bite the bullet and get the historic bundle. I find historic to be much more interesting and varied than standard. Or I did. Until Thassa's f*#$%&' Oracle came along. I swear, 50% of the decks I play against are:
1 Thassa's Oracle
3 Treasure Hunt
56 Islands, or variants thereof
It's boring as hell. You draw. They mull. They mull again. They mull until they have a hand with a Treasure Hunt in it. Then they win on turn 4.* Or they mull to nothing, and you win. That's it. That's how the game plays out. Every. Single. Time.
Only once have I beaten the deck (as opposed to watching them mull themselves to death) and that was with an amusingly huge turn 3 Terravore. Still boring as all hell. Even if I sideboard, there's bugger all I can do about it as my deck has no blue, and thus no counterspells. I really hope this deck is dealt with, and soon, as while it probably doesnt have a large win rate, it's bloody everywhere, and most importantly it's booooooooring. I don't mind if someone comes up with a decent solution, or if WotC banhammer it, but either way, it needs dealing with pronto. Or maybe I'm just super unlucky and get matched against the dozen or so barstewards who play it? I dunno...
Anyway, rant over. For now...
*I dunno if you're familiar with the deck. It runs thus:
turn 1: Island, pass
turn 2: Island, Treasure Hunt. Put between 1 and 50something cards into their hand. Keep a treasure hunt, or an Oracle, depending on what they got. Put the rest in the yard.
turn 3: repeat turn 2.
turn 4: play Thassa's oracle. Win.
btw, I don't suppose you (or indeed, ser Kbear) would be interested in a wee game or two on Arena some time this week? I'm pretty much stuck at home all day every day making sure my kids don't murder each other until they go back to school in April, so I'm slowly but surely losing the will to live. A game or two would help remind me that I'm actually a functioning human being.
