You can even water the glue down juuuust a touch if you want it to flow a little better. I dump the scatter thick, just pile it up to the model's knees and let the glue dry before shaking it off.Grantholomeu wrote: ↑Sun Oct 31, 2021 3:25 amI'm trying to find something I can use to put scattered leaves and whatnot on my bases.
Maybe it'll be best to just lightly put some glue on the base with a stick and then dump the scatter on top of that. I think gluing directly from the tube to the base would be too goopy.

Yesterday I built a Thunderhawk Gunship.
Unlike @AndrewGPaul 's though, mine was smol and not heavy. It's pretty big relative to other Aeronautica Imperialis planes!

Been chipping away at these first generation chonks little by little in meetings, and they're finally table ready.
I feel like they could slip in with the Indomitus crew without arousing suspicion.

Nice Jye, your output is impressive! The stormcast are looking great, as well.

Re: What did you do today.
I crawled out of my playstation cave to meet Jye up in Ichinomiya for a busy Underworlds day with a bunch of that whole crowd (in a community center and not the not-so-FLGS, for those keeping track at home). It was a lot of fun! We had some basically first-time players and some more experienced folks, and the mix of Championship and Rivals decks was really interesting. Championship was just as expected (although the new rules wrinkles from Harrowdeep really do inject a bit of new electricity into the game), Rivals turned out to be really interesting, and we even found that an experienced player piloting a Rivals deck against a newer player's constructed deck can make for a fun game for all involved.
And now I have a big stack of AI models to paint for Jye to get me out of my non-hobbying funk, and hopefully catapult myself into getting back to painting at my usual pace.
(Traitor Legios has got me itching to paint up some titans, too, so probably sooner rather than later my desire to paint will reach critical mass and get my butt in the chair.)

@ToD & Jye - Why is it a not-so-FLGS? You've never really elaborated on that.

Re: What did you do today.
It was odd because everything was super nice and everything seemed to be going swimmingly. I noticed the discount getting wound back but I figured that was just the pandemic and it was still better than the GW sticker price I used to pay in Australia.
But then suddenly drama? At which point Ring Tail is a better deal anyway (their sticker price is discounted + points + free delivery if you break an ichiman) and the community centre Dave found is cheaper and more convenient
And tons of people showed up today so it looks like the gaming community is of one mind.
Bit of a shame that's probably the last we'll see of the store staff who were great, but shikata nai.

Re: What did you do today.

This is one of the first things I painted...very badly...and helped me decide to ditch conventional paints for Contrast.
I'm hoping to use it next week (having finally caved on the Long Fangs) so I used some more metallics and washes to bring it up (barely) to battlefield status. It's not great but it's also the longest resident of my backlog so it's good to have at four colours.

I really like the 40k drop pods, actually. I think they look good with a bit of weathering on them, as they have nice big mono coloured areas to fill up with streaks and grime and whatnot. Have you ever tried oil weathering, Jye? I reckon that'd work a treat on that mini. That said, it's perfectly ok dokes as-is, and as such gets the thumbs up from me
As for me, today I actually played a game! Gosh cor golly! Spev and I played 2010 points of 1p40k, with my stinky bois taking on his squats. Because there's no school like old school. Except proxy school, which is where Spev's minis came from
Anyway, it turned out that nurgle minis are quite hard to kill (who knew?) and squat bikers are surpringly squishy. Fun was had by all, and I'm looking forward to some more gaming some time soon (tm).

some nurglings, who, unfortunately, eventually got run over. Poor wee blighters *sniffles sadly*

The plaguebearers turned out to be really, really deadly, even against armoured walkers.

large crab daemon is large.

always a pleasure to play at chez Spev

the scythe duders were...solid, but didnt hit very hard. I dunno how they play in actual 40k, mind you.
