Well I need to work on my blending, so I'm not a good person to ask. I naturally gravitate towards the impressionist, looks good from far away, approach. When I get around to painting my Morgana I figured I could work on both natural skin tones and blending. But the Scale75 colors are very nice. The color selection is amazing. When I first took them all out of the box, I was just looking at almost every one individually thinking, "That's a real nice color." They're also *patented "super matte," which looks a lot better than the more satin finish than Vallejo and Citadel have in most cases imo. I have Scale75, Vallejo, and Citadel, and I use Scale75 as much as I can.

@Balloonacorn: Now those are some fun bases. Plasticard? looking good.

@Grantholomew: Oooh super matte sounds nice! and you're right, the color selction is really good. I hear the drying times are also longer than other brands, is that a thing?

Fwiw, I have a fair selection of scale colour, too, and can vouch for them. Like all ranges they have their good and bad points, but generally speaking they have good opacity and blend well together. Defo worth your time to try out.

*Edit* also, can confirm they're super matte. This is a strong point of Scale75. Haven't noticed drying time being an issue, but then I paint infamously slowly, so...

Incidentally, (and I realise I'm reaching hitherto untouched levels of painty pretentiousness here :D ) I got a set of Kimera color paints last week. Yes, the single pigment ones from Italy with the silly waiting list. .

They're very nice, to be sure, but they're also quite different. I only really have first impressions, but they seem quite thick (even the bottle of medium is kinda almost like a paste. I mean, when you dispense it onto your palette you could make little dog poop swirly heaps if you wanted. That thick,). I'm not sure how I feel about that. But, the big plus is you can thin these paints for daaaays (adding medium plus water) and they don't lose their color or separate out. I'm quite astounded actually. It's definitely a learning curve, but I'm having fun mucking about with them. Unfortunately my current project (my honeypot crew) leans heavily into my other new paints - the malefic flesh paint set from Vallejo (the royo one). I'm absolutely loving the ease of mixing the flesh tones for kinda weirdy fantasy colours, and have applied them liberally to all my honeybees (I refuse to call them honeypotters, and I've decided "the Lynch mob/crew" is too loaded. So, honeybees it is.)

Also, yay! My new phone works! Goodbye, Apple! Screw you and your sucky battery problems! Me and Google here are off to enjoy the net together!

If the drying times are longer, I haven't noticed, so nothing too significant for sure. They're also thicker than Citadel or Vallejo. I add a drop or two of Vallejo thinner to everything I squirt out on my wet palette.

I pulled some models out of the closet now that the local games are starting up again after a break of a few months. (I've been having fun with FF14 in the meantime)
This week I finished magnetizing my baneblade and sprayed it up just barely enough to get it on the table.

I'm planning to run it as a Stormlord this Sunday and charge it at the enemy as a giant Christmas present box filled with stormtroopers. :D

I'm not sure when I'll get around to actually painting it for real. Baneblades are pretty weak on the tabletop right now, so Christmas game aside I don't think I'll be using it much until we get a new guard codex.

I just finished these last night before the game day so here's the post :D
Also I think my camera might have gone a little crazy with the light exposure on the 1st one, but I'm not picky enough to go take more photos.

@Grantholomeu - Those piggies are cute when they're little. :D Nice work.

I finished these off a few days ago but am only just getting around to posting them here now. Some entries for the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge.
A mammoth from Reaper Bones, most of the fur and armour was done in Contrast paints.
Image
He's a chunky fellow. The base is an old CD. For scale, here is a shot with a 28mm Viking.
Image

Some demons/devils, also from Reaper Bones. The skin colour is Contrast.
Image

Some Gorillas, again, Reaper Bones. (I have a lot of those...). Regular Vallejo on these.
Image

And a deranged robotic vending machine. I used Contrast yellow as a base coat and went over it again with regular yellows to give it a better coverage.
Image

The model is a kit-bash with the central part being from... Reaper Bones and the legs and cannons coming from Necron Wraith kits. Just before I painted the base, I dropped it and sheered off three of the four legs. Much swearing was done. A bit of time with a drill and some metal wire and it was all repairable.
The model is for a game called This Is Not A Test, (or TNT for short), a post-apocalyptic skirmish game with a Fallout vibe to it. The rules for the vending robot call for a Quantum-Cola Vendo-bot, but I decided to use a different, fictional beverage, Brawndo: The Thirst Mutilator. What is Brawndo? It's from a movie called Idiocracy. You can see commercials for the drink here, here and here.

Awesome work, Primarch. The Mammoth and vending machine in particular!

Got my new Company Commander painted up today. I know it's not a very interesting mini, but I really enjoy painting my Imperial Guard. Maybe it's because the scheme is so simple? Also tried messing around with the macro feature on my phone camera - turns out the quality is horrible.

So here is Major Graf-Morten, Commander of 1st Company, 82nd Tarsonian Ashwalkers.
