High Elf army list 2250pts

Hey guys, this is the list I'm planning to take to the Beppu tourney.
So far it has pulled off 2 draws against Mike (though they were in his favour).

Prince on a barded elven steed with a lance, shield, sword of might, talisman of saphery (negates enemy magic weapons) and armour of protection (4+ ward)
Noble carrying the Battle Standard, armed with a great weapon, shield (I know I cant use it with the GW, but I can use it if I am shot at), dragon armour (immune to fire), temakador's gauntlets (ward save)
Noble with a great weapon, dragon armour, reaver bow (3 S5 shots) and talisman of protection (ward save)
Mage with 2 dispel scrolls, gem of courage (helps with morale checks)

10 Archers with a champion
10 Archers with a champion
20 Spearmen with full command and the lion standard (immune to fear/terror)

15 Swordmasters with full command and the standard of balance (immune to all psychology)
Lion Chariot
5 Dragon Princes with champion, standard bearer, banner of ellyrion (allows move through difficult terrain) guardian phoenix (ward save)
5 Silver Helms with shields, champion
3 Repeater Bolt Throwers.

Comments and feedback are welcome, but I am busy painting this army now so dont expect me to change much.

You are so lucky that I didn't notice that Eternal Hatred applies to mounts!

If I were you, I would drop the two lesser ward save items, especially the one on the bow armed guy. If these guys are being shot at then they have their unit as a meat shield. If Shooty boy gets into combat with anyone half decent, his unit will be chopped to pieces and he'll run away because of Combat Resolution. Ward save isn't much use then. With the points left over you can give bows too the characters who don't have them. Good for picking off Fanatics and careless mages.

Other than that it's a pretty balanced but hard list.

What say you savage?

Hmm, you're probably right about the ward saves. They didnt do me a lot of good in the last game. Plus its easy to switch magic gear around.

I'd worry about the swordmaster unit and how you can avoid them becoming pincushions. Their armor just can't endure the shooting that other elite regiments could.

Thats true about every unit in my army except the cavalry. T3 and a 5+ save is pretty weak. My own army throws out a fair amount of firepower at a long range, but against an Empire or Dwarf army I'm expecting to get shot to pieces. The swordmasters just have to hope that the enemy target the cavalry instead.

There's not much you can do to keep elves from being shot to pieces unfortunately.

True but compared to white lions and phoenix guard, sword masters are exceptionally weak and they are arrow magnets due to how much damage they can do in hand to hand combat

Ah but compared to White Lions and Phoenix Guard my Swordmasters are painted, which guarantees them a place in my tournament list for the games in just over 2 weeks.

I think I will switch to Phoenix Guard come 8th edition if the rumours about ASF and Great Weapons are true.

Yes, the changes are making me pause in my collection as well until I know for sure.White lions suddenly don't look as good.

I saw your roster. why don't you use great eagles?
eagles are highly recommended.
Because they are flyer,they can disturb enemy marching,charge,other moving.
They are useful decoy which lure frenzy units.
The biggest reason is that they are very cheap(50pts/model)!

if I were you,I drop silverhelm or one boltthrower and pick up 2 eagles

Hi Manjimaru, thats a great idea. I think I have an Eagle somewhere. I will look for it and see if I can squeeze it into my army.
I love Bolt Throwers though. They can cause a lot of damage and help me kill monsters and other tough units.
