Infinity

Post by The Other Dave » Thu May 27, 2010 2:04 pm

So the conflux of the "cool miniatures what we should look at" thread and the "how can we make Necromunda fun" thread got me thinking of Infinity. It's a sci-fi skirmish game with drop-dead gorgeous models, very "hard" science fiction in the Masamune Shirow vein.

The rules are free to download to boot, and although I'm too lazy to actually do so I've heard good things about them - it's another "fine at 3 to 6 models" scale skirmish game, they say.

Anybody around here ever played it?

never played, but my mate has. He says its a fiendishly expensive game to play, apparently.

I like the Galwegians though. How could I not?

Yeah; I guess like Privateer they have to make up for the low volume of a skirmish-level game with on-the-expensive-side miniatures. I'm tempted to pick up a couple starter boxes though, just to a) give the game a try and b) paint up some of the minis.

Are those... Scottish werewolf dudes with claymores and machine guns?

I thought I liked the Nomads for their catgirl doctors, but that's pretty dang cool.

They are nice, but given that Ive just dropped a fair dollop of cash on Warmachine stuff, I fear I shall not be starting any further new games for the foreseeable future. Still, maybe next year :)

Corvus Belli has started putting up some (rather well-done) Infinity tutorials on YouTube.

Dangit Infinity, why do your models gotta be so pretty? (Some nice papercraft terrain too.)
