Mephiston make-over

Post by jus » Sat Dec 11, 2010 11:49 am

Ok, my first foray into sanguine addiction.

first up the chief librarian Mephiston with his "look at me, I'm so macho pose" - the "before" shot.

now here's the new and improved look.

..and the head swapper strikes again! Its a good thing I have yet another high elf mage kit lying around.
Like with all older models, I thought Mephiston's model was just a bit too plain and static for the Chief Librarian position so I tried to go for something more dynamic..like super saiyan hair.
The super saiyan hair is supposed to be him channeling his psychic power, preparing to cast. Also the sword arm is repositioned to have him look a little like he's challenging someone. Picture doesn't do him justice, he looks cooler on the table. What do you guys think?

The new pose is a big improvement.

I like your idea about the hair but the head itself looks out of place. I reckon it is too slender to pass for a space marine, and the thing on his head needs some greenstuffing to make it less elvish.

Really good improvement compared to the old model.

I really like the sword improvement. How did you rotate the arm, is it a loose piece?
I have to agree a little with Spevna on the head, even though the new head looks better and less stiff.

wow that was a fast decision you are going for Blood Angels for sure then... good luck with them... I like the model you have done... I will hold judgment until I see how it is painted.. Prime has a chap with an Elf head and it looks fine..

I think it will look better once it has been painted. The difference between the metal and the plastic draws attention to it. (I have the same model with my Dorn model).

Different issue. Your models problem is a scale one (although I don't think it looks bad). The problem here is that the head is too slender. If it was more square jawed it would be great.

The original isnt actually that macho. Not everyone can be as manly as you Spev.

This is true. I always thought that the original one looked like a member of Status Quo. He had an uber dodgy looking mullet.

haha, Yeah, well they say blood angels are supposed to be 'fairer' folk compared with other marines. So I think its quite fitting. Anywho, I'll paint him up and then we'll see how it turns out. I can't really be bothered with the elven circlet thing, it would have been better if it wasn't there, but I guess the lord of death deserves some bling. Now all he needs is a banner, a pack and a fancy base.

executive decision  made 20 hours ago. What can I say? I'm a driven man.

hahaha, couldn't stand it mate. It just had to go.

Hey thanks :). Yes that arm was a loose piece, so a little trimming to fit the new position and some glue. And there you have it. Mephiston le Seigneur de la Mort
