Really don't want to know about Kommando Badruk's ring. Or any other part of him...

My first intro to blood bowl was the online browser version, where I was told to "click here", "click there," then "BLITZ BLITZ BLiTz," none of which were explained at all. Not the most compelling introduction to a game, but I'd give the game another go since it's everyone's and their grandma's favorite game evaaar.

Let's sort out a time when we are both online and we can squeeze in an online game. I can talk you through the ups and downs, and ins and outs of it if you like.

Well, I played an intro game of BB tonight, and I'm hooked. :)

I also want to say that I'm interested in putting together a league. I'll be getting my own pitch and team (anybody interested in a human team?) so I'll be interested in seeing a fun and inclusive league set up. :D

I propose:
• A schedule-less league with a one or two "divisions" (Mie and Nagoya- just for fun) and league standing updated
• No commissioner (sorry, I read a little of the last three pages and that isn't all too healthy, so lets keep it democratic)
• No set schedule. Just play games as you can. Play at Mondo books (it's a great location), at Kuwana, at Yokaichi, at Joshin, at Ogaki or in your buddy's home. Just record your result (with highlights) and just have fun with it. Opponents and teams don't have to be part of the league for a game to count. (Just no playing against yourself, beating up your child's team [for shame!] or against a computer. :D )
• A point system based on rewarding players for playing games, but still keeping it a little competitive.
An example: 3- points for a win; 2- for a tie; 1- for a loss
•A league standing recording records of all teams in the league. According to the above a proposed point system your team can either be best by winning a lot of games or just playing a lot of games. I think both are excellent. :D Also the league standing are just for fun and bragging rights. There isn't too much stock to be put into them, and many of the most powerful teams could be at the bottom due to dormancy.
• It will be a year-long league.
I also propose:
• 2/300 yen entry fee per player. Enter as many teams as you like. Old and new are welcome.
• The 2/300 yen fee goes toward purchasing the blood bowl trophies (4).
• 3 BB-tournaments are held in the year. (Proposed dates would be - Nagoyahammer, Orktoberfest (if it returns) and Winterblitz) At these tournaments, it would be enter a team as you like. The player and team are paired off in a ladder seated by the points in the standing. This means if there are an odd number of players, top point holding players will advance to the next round. (Being held on one day of these events, I hope this gives time to enjoy some other game or socialize.) The "winner" will take home a trophy.
• All trophies are owned by "the league". They are recycled every year and players holding the trophy must return them to the following year's event.
• Individual (surviving?) players-models shall be nominated and an MVP selected by a vote of the league participants.

Well, what do you guys think? Too ambitious? I'm not going to argue the points so just take the points you like (hopefully all of them. :D ) and keep them alive in this discussion.

Cheers.

Well, I'm still fine with a commissioner who will organize, mediate arguments, drum energy up, recruit and, if needed, help resolve rule disputes.

But, first we need a league before a commissioner, I would think. If there are about 6+ players maybe we would need a commissioner. I think we need the Mie- guys to actually make a league, so I'm for a league that makes them happy. (As I understand there is a big, more established Mie network, and it would be often if they are playing and adding their games to a league would be awesome.) :)

I agree with most of what you've proposed, job.

Here are two points I'd reconsider:
 • Point system: Something closer to 5- for a win, 2- for a tie, 1- for a loss. If the points for a tie and a win are too close, coaches have less incentive to risk their team to go for a last minute win, and that's boring.
 • Length: Stick to 3-4 months for the first trial. Consider extending that for future seasons if people want.

Other points which aren't a huge deal but which we should agree on:

(1) How do we select each team's MVP from each game (for SPPs)? Here are some options
--Random die roll
--Pick it ourselves
--Pick it ourselves, but justify it to the opponent based on that player's actual contribution to the game
--Let the opponent pick, but give us the option to reject that and go for the random die roll instead.

(2) Can freebooters/mercs or players who died in the match win MVP?

(3) Does in-game mention of Komando Badruck's freeballing result in a) an automatic forfeit by the offending coach, or b) an auto-forfeit followed by the offending coach buying the next round of drinks?

Woah there bucko. You can propose all you like, but you might want to run it by me first eh? :D

Winterblitz is for all the small scale, skirmishy stuff, so if you want to set up and run a tournament then, that's fine, but whilst I may or may not play a game of BB, I plan to play as many different games as I can.

Nagoyahammer already has a 40k Tournament and Orktoberfest has a WFB one, so whilst I have no problem with folks getting a game or two of BB in on the side, I'd rather have the second day of each event being free and easy so that folks can choose a variety of games and/or play the guys from out of town who come along and so everyone can relax after the previous day's tension. :D :D :D

Nothing stopping you from organising your own events as ToD has done though. Given the space you need for BB, maybe you could hire Mondo for a day or something? That way you can have people playing BB exclusively instead of one game then switching over to a different system.

Sorry... poor writing starts again and I am not sure people understood what I was saying.

@JOB: you should be the Commissioner of the new MONDO league either you or Grim I rearranged my work schedule so I can make it to most every Mondo event so I will the first to support the league if it can get off the ground..

if Mie gets a league or dose not that is all up to them at the end of the day they it is their choice. I do not see why they would not do there own league.

As for events I really think BB should be its own thing. The Events organized by Prime are his events and I for one support him. mostly because I know how much work and energy goes in to an event. The last thing you want is some promoting some other event at the same time. Events are a lot of work and cost the TO money as well as time, and it is in most cases it is a labor of love with little thanks awarded.

Count me out for the commish job, if only because I can't predict how often I'll actually get to Mondo since we're frequently away on Fridays.

If you'd like to hire me as the Special Advisor to the Commish, however, I could handle that ;)

Yeah, best not to hijack an event. BB's time- and space-intensive; we should set up our own event(s).
