New Tyranids
Hey Fellow Tyranid Players and Foes,
What do you think of these new beasties? With some Venomthropes and a bit of cover, both of them could be pretty good, I guess?

Also, makes me realize I have played few to no games of 7th edition, so not at all sure of the rules...Hopefully will fix that next Joshin!

Re: New Tyranids
Nids already have a few creatures that can cause instant death to certain targets simply through having a high Str value. (S6 vs. T3 mainly). Having a unit that can do it at range.... might be good.
The psychic bug might also be useful.
I guess a lot depends on the cost of the mini, which slot it's competing for and whether or not it looks any good.

Hmm...

Toxicrene looks ok.
Maleceptor is a huge pile of garbage. It can use it's psychic power three times, which will eat up 12 of your psychic dice to resolve semi-reliably. It then has a chance to be denied. Then it rolls to hit (witchfires still do that right?) at BS 3 and then may cause d3 wounds/glancing hit if you roll high enough. Yay, that adds about 20 dice rolls to the nid psychic phase. I guess it's a tough Synapse creature....

Re: New Tyranids
Yeah, I'll have to agree that the Toxicrene looks a lot better, both model and statwise.
Having had so much trouble getting psychic powers to do anything with Zoanthropes, I figured having an attack that I could use 3 times a turn sounded pretty good, but I had forgotten that they had introduced a dice pool for the psychic phase. So yeah, too many hoops.

Hmm...not sure if I'm liking these gribblies. I am not a huge fan of the cthulhu face but of the two, the Toxicrene has more attractive abilities.
I liked the new forge world one better. Though my heart will always be with the Trygon, such a cool looking monster and the reason the Hive Mind won me over.

Re: New Tyranids
Tyrannids may just have received a very big boost with that tyrannocyte. A good deep striking transport it would seem.

They're really reaching with the names, aren't they?
Tentacley duder looks pretty cool, though.
