hmm it looks like a 40k revolution! As such I'm here today to announce to ye all that, after many months of hiatus from 40k following the molestation of MIJ and my eldar armies at the paws of madmiral's and konrads ORKS, Im back baby.

sadly however, my entire eldar collection in all its half painted glory, now goes to primarch, and am going back to my black templars ( about 3000 points )which are shipped to me from home. BLACK TEMPLARS yeeeerrr!...sorry MIJ, Mike and all eldar players it was a pleasure teaming up with you guys for those games, please don't over react :? , but I'm joining back up the imperials now.
....dont put missile launchers or other heavy weapons into your infantry units. You wont be using them.
well, that may or may not be the case. I always ran a small 5 man crusader squad with a plasma cannon and another speacial weapon to hold objectives and target at range.

On a side note, to whoever was thinking of starting an ork army, I would like to get rid of my black reach orks (unpainted) so if you are interested feel free to P.M me.

What the HELL does Prim need with an eldar army? eh? where's your solidarity, man - I woulda taken some o them minis off your hands.

Ooooooooh, your Templars are sooooo goin down...

Imperial running dog lackey! :D

@dyllybones - native american space wolves sounds interesting. How do you plan to model them? Do you have a colour scheme or conversion ideas planned out? I reckon its a nice wee idea, and if done properly could look pretty bitchin' - consider me intrigued...

ps Warmahordes (in my albeit limited experience) and 40k (in my quite extensive experience) are actually not that similar at all. Its vital to remember that those HQ units that are so important in WMH are basically just flashy distractions to draw your opponent's attention in 40k (with certain notable exceptions, 2 of whom are in the space wolves codex...). Its your elites thatll do the killin' and your troops you need to keep alive at all costs. This is where vehicles come in very handy, as thing-to-speed-up-your-elites, and things-to-keep-your-troops-alive. That said, as an eldar player, I hate drop pods, so as a SM player you would be well advised to take lots of em. Feckin things :x grumblegrumblegrumble...

You will need some heavy weapons from the Space Marine Devestators kit. Basically all the regular marine kits and the wolf kits are fully interchangeable. if you're coming down to Nagoya anytime soon (demo games this sunday for example), I can pass over a couple of missile launchers if you want them.
dyllybones wrote:...How competitive is that build? I still don't have a really strong grasp on 40k rules, but I really want to play what I LIKE.
Drop pods are either awesomeness served with a side of win or epic fail if your opponent knows how to counter them. Since the Wolf battle force comes with drop pods its not like you are losing anything.
dyllybones wrote:What do Space Wolves play like? I've read plenty of Dakka articles that break them down as being not quite the melee-centric army most people make them out to be, but rather more of a flexible close-quarters army.
Space Wolves excel at close range shooting and can either follow up with a brutal charge or take a charge themselves and come out on top. There are no terrible units in their book, but I would probably avoid bikes since other marine armies make better use of them to be honest.
Wolf Guard look good on paper, but can get expensive VERY fast if you aren't careful.
You'll also find that you have some tough choices to make with your transports. Most squads get a bonus for having 10 men, but there is also a bonus for having a Wolf Guard or character in the unit.

All troop space wolves armies are actually very viable. Blood Claws and Grey Hunters are both great units. Space Wolf elites tend to be support for the troops, or fulfilling specialist roles to distract the opponent.

I'm not the biggest Eldar fan in the world, but I figured I would like to try them.

no, Just did not say that...well not in so many word  . Black templars are like all other space marine chapters autonomous, so I wouldn't shoe horn me into anyones team just yet.
man - I woulda taken some o them minis off your hands.
sorry dave, Prim went for the all or nothing approach to the trading business, and I was looking to sell off the lot.If you had taken the choicest parts of my army what would I have done with the scraps? Selling piecemeal a squad here and there would have left me with army so full of holes that it couldn't have been fielded anymore as legal and no one would have wanted the rest collectively, leaving them to the hassle of ebay or wasting space in my apartment.
eh? where's your solidarity, man
well...i uh, sold it.
Ooooooooh, your Templars are sooooo goin down...
Mr. Bolye, thanks for the encouragement :D

That's Boyle, ya Badruck wannabe. And just you wait till I get to killin marines. If theres one thing Ive had lots of practice doing, its killin marines. You can paint em black and say theyre on a mission from god, but when you get right down to it, that T4 3+Sv goes down just the same to a starcannon regardless of what colour it is...
